Are you doing cameras on the table?

Private User, on July 10, 2011 at 7:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 36

Hey ladies,

I am thinking of putting disposable cameras on the wedding tables. Are you doing that for your wedding? Just want to capture extra photos my photographer may miss. Where is a good place to buy wedding digital disposable cameras at?

I did it! I got my cameras from ebay. They weren't very expensive and while I did get quite a few pictures of feet. I got A LOT of amazing pictures of myself and parts of the wedding that I would have missed. The photographer can't be everywhere and these shots were action shots and alot more candid!

I agree I think it is just wasted money and you really wanna see yourself at your wedding. In a way I think each camera will be a whole roll of who ever gets a hold of it and if you have serious partiers than maybe some goofy stuff you don't really want to see. Maybe you can designate some cameras to some close trusted people or the bridal party that you know will include more of you the happy couple in the photos.

I am most definitely not. I am going to setup an eye-spy game where each table is to capture certain pictures and then have a place where they can all be uploaded to. It may not turn out as well as I hope but it will be infinitely better than disposable cameras.

No way. Put a couple of vintage Polaroids on the greeting table and leave it at that.

My daughter did disposables. I tried to talk her out of it, but she wanted them. So, I bought them on eBay.

The photos were not "horrible". We lucked out and people actually tried to take photos, rather than being stupid with them. But the quality of the photos was definitely lacking.

    Save your money.

I second the joint site for posting photos, and Glen's idea of "Eye Spy" The money you will spend on the cameras and developing you may be able to get a second photographer to make sure you "catch" everything.

Make up some cards and direct people to a photo sharing site. Everyone has a camera now (either stand alone or on their phones). Guests can share that way with you and with others.

Business cards in lots of different designs are available through VistaPrint and you only end up paying for postage (so, a couple of dollars).

Thanks for the input! My dad is pretty persistent about having them. Where can you buy digital disposable cameras?

No, for 2 reasons. First, they don't come out well. Second, it seems everyone has a cell phone camera (5-8 megapixels in most cases - many times better quality than a disposable) and they're not afraid to use them.

You can buy the disposables in most convenience stores, where they sell film, batteries, etc. There are white / bridal ones you can buy online, too.

I wanna do it!!! we did it at my moms wedding and it was so much fun, we got a bunch of great pics of my late grandmother that i really appriciate now, the pictures arnt perfect but it didnt cost us much we bought 7 one for each table and paid like 3 bucks aroll to get developed. maybe cost us 30 dollar? no where near what a 2nd photog would cost, and the point wasnt to have greattt photos it was there so we could get a look at the wedding from our familys eyes, my mom really enjoyed getting the photos back and i look forward to it as well Smiley smile

I'd talk your dad out of it. Some of our photogs can weigh in here- but most of the dispoable cameras have been sitting on the shelves for over a year and the chemicals are all screwy. We had a bride on here who did it- and what did she get? Pics of HER GRANDMA taking a poop... Yeah, seriously. Not cool!

I'd set up a photo share site. Alot of photographers also offer a camera service to have respectable digital cameras on the table and it puts your photog in charge of them... No expensive of having them processed to find out all the pics are crap.

I'm not just for the fact that the pics will not turn out good and like someone else pointed out, everyone has camera phones anyway that are gonna take better pics than the disposable cameras.

My sister did it at her wedding but she made it into kind of a game. she put list of pics to take on table with table number writen on cam so she kow who use it. ie: one pic of every person at table person in seat ___ must get picture of 2 people dancing; person in seat __ must get funny pic of person in seat ___ and then once all pictures were printed they picked like best 3 photos and people got like a 25 gift card and she ended up getting ALOT of good pics.
