Are you doing cameras on the table?

Hey ladies, I am thinking of putting disposable cameras on the wedding tables. Are you doing that for your wedding? Just want to capture extra photos my photographer may miss. Where is a good place to buy wedding digital disposable cameras at?

A few years ago some folks created this service called Canditto - they're even listed here on WW - which is basically a kiosk you rent for your wedding...guests put their memory cards from their own digital cameras in it as they leave the wedding, the machine downloads all the images, and then gives the guest their memory card back, so they leave with their photos and you get copies of all the images before they even leave the wedding. I'm not sure if they're still in business or not, but you can check out their listing here on WW:

Other than that, there are a few other services like weddinglens.com that are set up for your guests to upload their images to, but that's still relying on your guests to remember to do it for you after the wedding.

Further to the above, you could make your own 'kiosk' by setting up a computer with memory card readers and have people download their images as they leave the wedding. Maybe assign your nerdy 14 year old nephew to manage the thing for you!

I completely agree with Mary P....I just did that on Vistaprint. Here is the front side of the card I chose

On the back (in b&W to save &dollarSmiley winking I had the details...the photosharing website and the guest account info for them to access and upload pics. I'll put this postcard on everyone's plate with favor on top.

Lisa- that is a GREAT idea!

I have a card reader that reads all the different types of memory cards. It cost me $15... Maybe have a laptop (or two) with the card readers. Give people instructions- like set up a folder with their last name and download all their pictures to it.

I know I'd make the stop on my way out... Alternatively, Vistaprint does free stuff ALL the time. Set up a photo site- like snapfish, or photobucket for example with a password. Have business cards with the site and the passowrd for guests to upload their photos too at home.

Now- everyone has a digital camera, or two- not to mention their cell phones. I think disposables are better left in the trash.

Everyone I have heard about who has done that has ended up spending a lot of money to develop shots that are unusable--too dark, out of focus, or inappropriate. We figured that our friends already have digital cameras that are much better than the disposables. We asked them to upload their photos, and got several hundred.

I'm doing a photo scavenger hunt for the kids to keep them occupied but I'm not supplying cameras for the adults.

It may be affordable to buy the cameras- but keep in mind that it costs between $6-10 to get your photos developed. more if you want them on a CD as well as prints.

My FH was wanting to do this and I thought it was a cute idea. I'm glad that I read this post cause now I'm not going to do it. I would hate to spend all that money and get nothing out of it.

Yea, I agree with everyone here. Plus I am sure everyone will bring their own cameras and then they can either tag you on facebook or email you the pix. I always take my camera everywhere.

From what I have seen, it's really a 50/50 chance of getting photos you may not have in the first place. I've attended weddings were it worked out great and other weddings where it just didn't work. I would recommend considering them as an extra or bonus, if you have some extra money for the wedding go for it. But if you are on a tight budget, take some of the suggestions from above and setup an online site where people can upload their images from their phone, during and after the wedding. Good Luck!

No, I don't think we will be using cameras at the tables.
