Are Wedding Favors a Must?

Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? I don't want to seem cheap, but we are almost over budget and one part of my brain says "I am paying for food and desert and everything else, the experience should be enough". I have been to plenty weddings, grabbed favors and threw them away shortly thereafter. The other part of my brain says "Don't be ratchet, have the favors". Honestly, I feel like they are a waste of money. Am I wrong?

Angie, I totally agree. That tradition needs to dwindle away.

We loved it! It was fun, interactive and all of our guest loved being part of a big celebration all weekend. My biggest tip is SUNBLOCK! Protect yourself and your fiancé at all time. I did at all time because of how my dress was so I really had no issues but my husband didn’t... he put sunblock but never retouch and kept saying he wasn’t the bride when my MOH try to put some more on him when playing volleyball. Well he was red like a lobster and it wasn’t cute. For our previous event no big deal but the day of the wedding he had my make up artist put make up on him and cover the red spots. Another tip is to make sure you spend time with all your guest prior to the wedding so you actually enjoy the whole wedding. Also find time for yourself and get a couples massage before everyone arrives so you are relax and ready. Is going to be hectic and you’ll feel like you’re being pull in a million direction the days before but just breath and bring people together instead of making small groups. That worked for us so great that after we left for honeymoon I saw all guest hanging out together. Is going to be a blast! Good luck

We're not giving favors, read a lot of articles that the guest leave them behind. We are doing a sweet table instead. I also read a port that they did a candy bar that guest can make a goodie bag to take home instead of favor.

We are doing these place cards for the reception. I'm hoping our guests will take them since they will have their own name on it. We're also doing a photobooth and I ordered custom matchbooks for our cigar bar.
I have always loved receiving edible favors!

We opted not to do favors. I felt the same way! We're providing a party, food, cake, a hot chocolate bar, booze, and we're even having games (it's a bbq). We started off by thinking about making soap for everyone because FH makes homemade lye soaps, but then I, too, read the dreaded reddit threads where people said they don't like favors unless they're baked.

I saw one that I would LOVE to do but we just couldn't fit favors into our budget. They were so cute! You fill a little sack with a few mini donuts and a juice box for the morning-after. Or cookies as a midnight snack. I saw a more adult version where someone made "cocktails to go" which were a mini Coke with a mini rum or vodka tied to it. But then I'd worry about people drinking them before getting into their cars.

Anyway, nobody is going to think, "Where is my beer cozy? Or where is my mini bottle of bubbles?" LOL. Skip 'em, Stephanie. Nobody will miss them.

We're not doing favors for the simple fact they're a waste of money. One of my best friends just got married two weeks ago and over half the guests left the favors on the tables and I'd rather put the extra money towards my honeymoon.

I hope not! For one -- 12 tables for 100 guests is only 12 centerpieces. And 2 -- I'm only buying decor I will reuse in our home, so I want the centerpieces!

Favors are not necessary. I have been to many weddings that did not have them. Our venue offers "cookies to go". We plan on doing that. If you really want to have favors I would go with something edible.
