Anyone use fashion tape to help keep thier dress in place?

Karen, on June 1, 2012 at 10:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I have a plunging neckline and although its tailored to fit perfect I still worry a little and bought fashion tape to keep everything where its supposed to be, but... I've never used it before, anyone have experience with this?

We used it on my sisters' dresses, because they were the convertible type that just tied around their tops/midsections. It held reasonably well (fabric-on-fabric). I'd assume it'd hold better if it was holding fabric against skin. I originally bought it for MY dress, but didn't end up using it. We were glad we had it for theirs...

I use it whenever I wear anything low-cut or strapless.

I use fashion tape all the time. What kind of fabric is your dress? If it's something thing like a silk or satin you want to be really careful where you place the tape - otherwise as you move, the fabric will sort of bunch up around the tape strips. If it's something super heavy/structured/beaded, it might not hold very well but it can't hurt.

Seriously one of the best inventions ever. I usually carry a strip in my purse. Smiley smile

Yes, I lost a little more weight than I expected so I had to tape my dress to my bra so the bra wouldn't peak out. My dress was heavy and beaded and it worked great!

Kris S., My dress is a kind of heavy satin (I was thinking to place it on the most outside edge of the seam?) What about dancing/sweating? Does it hold up? I bought some from Michaels tonight, is there any one brand thats better then the other?

(ps, thanks for all the advice ladies!)

I have the Hollywood brand (I think it was a stocking stuffer from my mom or something)... It's a lavender tin and I also keep 1 or 2 in my purse. I've had mixed results. Like Kris says, the type of fabric can make a big difference. I'm not sure it would be very effective with the heavy dress satin you've mentioned, but it might be worth a try.
