Anyone having an early wedding???

Tiffany, on April 13, 2012 at 11:34 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

My wedding starts at 1pm which is early to some people. But trying to figure out a timeline is nerve wrecking because I honestly don't see how everything is going to get done before the wedding. I wanted to get my hair done that day and I have 6 girls who need makeup done and myself. I feel like its going to be a rush trying to keep a time schedule and we can only be at the venue an hr before the wedding to set up. I guess this is the con to an early wedding because there is no room for delays or mishaps...Like what time should I get started on things?? Has anyone seen this done or doing it themselves?

My wedding was at 11am. The bad thing is that you have to wake up early! I woke up around 6am, ate breakfast, showered, and started on my makeup before my BM's and stepmom (she did my hair) arrived. I decided on a low mainentance hairstyle to save time. My stepmom straightened my hair a few days before the wedding and on the day of, she just brushed it to the side and added a ponytail. It took about 10 minutes. I didn't provide my two BM's with makeup service because they don't wear makeup anyway.

Since you have more BMs, you probably need to get started around 7am. If you can, try to schedule things like mani/pedis the day before! For setting up, we had about 30 minutes to set up on the beach. I had my dad and the coordinator set up while DH and I did our first-look. Try to have everything labeled in boxes and write out clear instructions for people to follow.

Luckily, our morning wedding went smoothly. I kept decoration to a minimum and I got started super early! Good luck!

My wedding is at 11:00 a.m. My only issue is that my makeup/hair artist has another wedding before mine and she's only going to have ONE HOUR to get me done. I am praying that it works out ok (she PROMISES it will), or else everything else will just have to wait LOL.

And I'm not getting up before 9:00 a.m.! I'm washing my hair the night before so I just have to shower in the morning. FH is going to bring me breakfast to my room so I can relax Smiley smile

My wedding was at 11am - it all worked out ok! my hairstylist brought her assistant so she could get through us quickly - we started hair at 6am. i know my coordinator was at the venue by 8am to set up. we didn't have a makeup artist but we all did our own while others were getting their hair done.

i don't know about the setup part of things - i guess you probably should base everything on a timeline as if you were starting at 11:30, so you can arrive at the venue by then?

Thanks everyone! Yea my MUA has an assistant to base everyone to save time and I do have a simple style for my hair so I guess I am just worrying. I get up pretty early anyway so thats not a problem but I am worried about everyone else. Our planner did say she didnt have a problem leaving and starting w/o the late ppl so I will leave that to her...hopefully it doesnt come to that.

I have vendors and my aunt coming to set up...I just hope 1hr is enough time.

Syd- Thats a good suggestion about labeling...thanks!!

Ours is at 2pm & we have to be at the salon at 6am to start hair & makeup.

Still need to think of everything else, We Are completely DIYing the whole wedding, but I have a friend helping set up & making sure everything will go as planned!

Ours is at 2 pm, but almost every wedding I have been in has been at 2 pm (almost all Catholic weddings). I don't remember anyone feeling rushed or stressed, but then again, we all set up hair appointments at the same time but with different people and only the brides ever had make-up artists. All hair was done in an hour or so and make-up in however long it took you to put it on. I'm sure mine will be like that too, so I'm not too worried about it.

Ours starts at 8:30am, but its a DW on the beach so there really isn't too much set up. I cringed when the Hair/Makeup lady said she will be at our hotel at 6am but she reminded us that we will be 3 hours ahead in time so we should be fine. We aren't setting up the reception the Venue is so we don't need to worry about that. Just need to give them any DIY the day before and they will take care of it all.

On another note. My daughters wedding was at 4:30 and I thought we would be fine to start setting up at 3. My mother felt otherwise and booked an additional hour. We needed it and I was so glad she just called and took care of it. I was still running around in sweats, hair and makeup were already done, setting up 30 mins before and the guests were starting to arrive.

Our wedding was supposed to be at noon. We had just the brides getting hair/make-up, so the hair/make-up person was supposed to show up at 10:00 AM and spend an hour on each of us. We had hair/make-up done at the ceremony location so that one of us could be working with the maid of honor to decorate while the other was getting hair/make-up done. The only problem was that the hair/make-up person got caught in traffic and showed up at 10:30 AM, which pushed back the ceremony until 12:30 PM.

With six people needing make-up, and only an hour to set up, you might consider going to a salon so that all six of you can get done at the same time by different people.

As for decorating, just keep the decorations simple enough so they can be done by your vendors and aunt in under an hour.

With our wedding venue, we have a 5 hour time slot in the morning (10-3) on a Saturday. So they are suggesting a 10:30 ceremony. I have 6 bridesmaids. It is about 6 months away. I'm not sure if I'll want to have a stylist do everyone's hair and makeup. I think it would be fun to do each other's, save time and money that way. I'm glad I have some time to figure that out!

My wedding is at 2 pm also and we are doing the professional photos before. We are planning to get ready at the venue. I will have a DOC also. So between her and having the venue from 8 am I should be fine. It will take scheduling but not worried about it. I only have 4 total getting hair done and 2/3 doing make up done.

Our wedding like most brides here started at 11:00 am.. I got up early, I think at 6am and went to my friend's house where me and my BP met to do our hair and makeup. My wedding was also on a SUNDAY so that meant we couldn't go to the mall to get our makeup done (I was sad, I was hoping I could go to MAC and just get a $50 macy's gc so my makeup could get done for free but the mall doesn't open until 12!)

Anyway, I did my own hair and makeup, my sister (one of my BM's) and her friend did my other 2 BM's hair and makeup.. made it to the church at 10:30 am as scheduled. [:

Our ceremony is at 12:30. I'm still trying to decide how I want my hair and where to get it done at.
