Anyone else having a Sunday wedding?

Kassie, on June 17, 2013 at 12:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 51

When we started looking for a venue the difference between a Saturday & a Sunday was $1400! I mean I was totally wanting a Saturday wedding cause it's just more convenient for everyone but thats quite a difference price wise. I get down sometimes hearing everyone talk about their Saturday weddings but I think I made the right decision budget wise. Anyone has have to make this decision? & do you think Sunday is an okay day to do a 4:30 pm wedding?

If its not in a church, thats fine! Dont expect people to stay real long though, because they will have work and school the next day, so expect a lot of people to clear out by 9PM. Churches usually wont allow you to book anything during a time they would have services.

I don't see why not! We picked a Tuesday b/c it was cheaper. I say Sunday works.

I do Sunday weddings almost every week. I might start a little earlier though.

We did a Sunday because it's the only day both H and his best man would be off. But we opted for a Sunday brunch wedding at 10:30AM -- we only had a handful of OOT guests, about a 2 hour drive for them, so a dinner was out of the question since they'd need to return the same night.

Fridays and Sundays are usually the less expensive days. We are doing a Friday night wedding. I don't see anything wrong with it although most Sunday weddings that I've been to started earlier than 430 unless it was on a holiday weekend.

Our wedding is a Sunday late afternoon/evening. We don't have any OOT guests so it works great for us!

We originally was going to have our weddng on a Saturday as well, until our venue pointed out the difference in price between a Saturday and Sunday wedding. And like you said, it just made sense budget wise for us to have it the next day.

But, I think 4:30pm is fine. Mine starts at 5:00pm and will go until 11pm-12am (most likely closer to 11pm). But ours is on a holdiay weekend (4th of July) and I've had some guest already tell me they'd planning on taking that Mon. off anyway.

I've been to a Sunday wedding. It was great! People will take off Monday usually so don't worry.

P.S I did not take off Monday and stayed at the reception the whole time Smiley smile It's not like I go out on work nights all the time so once in a blue especially for a wedding is an exception!

I am doing a Sunday wedding. There is no cost benefit to this for us but it made it so our VIP guests were easily accommodated since many of them work Saturdays (family business involved also).

Our wedding is at 10:30 am, and is also a Sunday brunch (our favorite meal). Reception is done by 4:00. Signature drinks of Mimosas and Bloody Marys with limited bar.

I'm a Sunday bride and I think a 4:30 wedding will be fine. Are you going to have a cocktail hour? How long are you planning the reception to be? Just asking because it is important to consider your timeline on Sunday weddings because, like PPs have said, people will want to be home at a decent time to get ready for their Mondays.

But I think we are a little different because its Labor Day weekend so everyone has Monday off, so it's really like a Saturday I think

We're doing a Sunday wedding because of the cost factor as well. It's a little bit of a bummer because I originally wanted a Saturday too, but it was a $1,500 savings.

I think 4:30 is okay, unless you're planning to have a longer than average reception. We're starting at 4 and will go till 9, which seems reasonable to me.

Ours is a Sunday with the ceremony beginning at 3:30 (sunset will be around 4:45 in November).

We looked at the same thing - we're saving about $1500 by having our wedding on Sunday and not on Saturday. We liked this date better anyway, it's the day he proposed, and everything seems to be happening on the 17th for us now... looks like it was meant to be! Smiley smile

I think it works. However, like earlier said, people have to go to church and most people have to work the next day. So most people will clear out early. between 2-4pm is a good time to start the ceremony. so that the reception can end at 9pm. We are doing a saturday evening wedding.

I am! We are doing a semi OOT wedding Sunday at 5pm until 11pm. Everyone coming is already booked at the venue to stay overnight and pple didn't have a problem requesting off a Monday at work. Hey it gives pple a reason to avoid going to work on the dreaded Monday! The price difference for minimum was a $6000 difference!

I had a Sunday wedding that was set to start at 5 pm.. Yes, we chose Sunday because it was cheaper and also chose it on Memorial Day weekend so most of our guest would have Monday off.. So it was like a Saturday in a way.. It worked out great.

We are doing a sunday wedding -- the cost was way cheaper and it even got us a free open bar.

We are starting at 3pm with the ceremony (same place as reception) and we have the place until 8pm.

I want mines to be on Saturday but I think FH is backing out on the whole DIY thing since it's gonna cost us around the same price so, I think we're going with the Sunday...
