Anyone else having a Sunday wedding?

When we started looking for a venue the difference between a Saturday & a Sunday was $1400! I mean I was totally wanting a Saturday wedding cause it's just more convenient for everyone but thats quite a difference price wise. I get down sometimes hearing everyone talk about their Saturday weddings...

Anyone has have to make this decision? & do you think Sunday is an okay day to do a 4:30 pm wedding?

We're doing ours on a Sunday & probably at 4:30 too. Things might be done by 10:30 figuring an hour or more for the ceremony but it can run longer. Idk anyone who goes to bed earlier than that on a weekday anyway. It's apparently a Greek tradition to get married on a Sunday & so I know lots of people who do/did it. Actually when I mentioned a Saturday instead I got weird looks lol. Look at it this way, there's so many other things going on on a Saturday night where people can go out and party but not much else happening on a Sunday. You've just made Sunday better for so many people Smiley smile

I'm getting married on a Sunday and I wont change my date for anyone! It is my 11 year year anniversary and if people want to be there they will, if they don't..don't let the door hit you on the way out! Sike! I hope it does hit them because honestly it's just one day of the whole year, so what if you get two hours of sleep? suck it up! lol

Totally understand where you are coming from and think you made the right decision!

We opted for a Saturday morning wedding opposed to Saturday evening to save money.

We're doing a Sunday evening wedding 5:30 until 11pm. It's like 30-45 mins away for all of our family but my family normally goes out weeknights to bar and clubs so i'm not too worried about people cacking out early Smiley smile

We did it because that weekend is the weekend of when we first started dating and Sunday was just waaaay more budget friendly for us to be able to afford our dream venue.

Sunday here as well. We will start at 5:30. Most of our guests will already have Christmas Eve/Christmas off, so it is only taking one day, if they want it too. The cost difference for us was 2500 for venue alone. And that's during "off-peak" wedding season. I love my Sunday and wouldn't trade it for anything. Almost all of our guests go to church services of some sort on Sunday, so it does not matter, if they are going to leave early Sunday night, they would have left early Saturday night as well.

I wanted a sunday ..it was going to be 10/12/14 but our venue was booked for that day so we booked a friday 10/10/14 , and after talking to alot of people about it everyone was saying that noone stays for the sunday weddings! they all have work the next day and they leave early. if your having it early sunday then you should be fine. but if its later alot of people wont stay till the end

A lot of Jewish weddings are on Sundays, regardless of price. I've had plenty of non Jewish Sunday weddings too. I don't see any problems with it, and 4:30pm sounds like a great start time. Some people will leave a little earlier, some will stay the entire time. If it helps your budget and you can have a great time, there's no reason not to!

I'm a little late to the party but LOOK AT ALL THE 10/13/13 brides!! I have so many date twins I'm so pumped Smiley smile

Originally were planning to start at 4:30 but bumped it up to 4:00PM.

It is Columbus Day but contrary to popular belief a lot of people DON'T get that day off- unless you work for the gov/school system/etc. But we're hoping it helps at least a few people Smiley smile

@Nicole C., yay 10/13 brides! I think we're up to date quadruplets or quintuplets, I love it! Smiley smile

And yeah, I agree about Columbus Day. It was a small bonus for us, as we have a decent number of teachers/government workers coming so they'll get the day off, but a lot of people don't. I know I don't! FH does though... lucky... one less vacation day to use. Smiley smile

Haha yes we're up there I think- there were at least 2 others besides you and I on this thread.

We don't get it off either- but we're also having an adult-only reception so I'm hoping that for those people who are parents they don't need to worry about getting their kids to school the next day!
