Anyone else having a Sunday wedding?

When we started looking for a venue the difference between a Saturday & a Sunday was $1400! I mean I was totally wanting a Saturday wedding cause it's just more convenient for everyone but thats quite a difference price wise. I get down sometimes hearing everyone talk about their Saturday weddings...

I get down sometimes hearing everyone talk about their Saturday weddings but I think I made the right decision budget wise. Anyone has have to make this decision? & do you think Sunday is an okay day to do a 4:30 pm wedding?

We are doing ours the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, with no associated cost benefit. It will be a brunch wedding in the morning (since it is outside and cooler). We chose that day since Saturday is our holy day ^_^

Yeah I totally wish we would have planned ours for a holiday weekend but there weren't any holidays around the date we wanted. Most of my OOT guests just have about an hour drive so I figured if they have to live a little earlier I wont be mad. I've just always visioned an evening wedding.

Ours is Sunday. Ceremony at 3, cocktail hour at 4:30, reception til 9:30. Everyone is out of town up to 2 and a half hours but seriously who doesnt look for an excuse to call off on a monday? We are expecting some people to leave earlier but we'll party til they throw us out.

I'm having a Sunday wedding Smiley smile and at 6:30pm! Do what works for you, the people who matter will make it work for them. The next week is a holiday so a lot of people already have Monday off work, and those who didn't are taking a day off or going in a few hours late. It also worked for our OOT guests to be able to tie in the wedding with their regular summer vacation.

My wedding is on a sunday at 4:30 too. as far as cost saving and venue availability go, how could you say no? think of it this way, all the people who go to cottages on the weekend will be happy that all they have to do is come home a little earlier! if anything it is more convenient.

FH is in a Sunday wedding next month. He wasn't happy to find out it was a Sunday because he has to miss a softball game, but it doesn't really matter to me. He was just like, who gets married on a Sunday. LOL

Totally fine! You do save a lot of money that way! Ours is on a Sunday at 4pm (till 10) and we're having it in off season to save more money too. People will make it work, don't worry! Smiley smile

I think Sunday weddings are more thank okay! We were considering a Sunday wedding bc of the price difference as well. However, now that we are probably having a destination wedding in Vegas, it will have to be Saturday evening so our guests can drive over that morning and drive back on Sunday. We live in LA so it's about a 4-5 hour drive.

We are having a Sunday wedding on Columbus Day weekend so most people have off on Monday. Definitely a difference in price.

ME ME ME!!! The price difference was huge between a Saturday and Sunday. Our DJ also gave us a discount because it is on a Sunday. Oh and our venue is closed to the public on Sunday afternoons so we have the whole place to ourselves. Ceremony is at 3:00pm with the reception ending at 8:00pm. About half the guests have a little over an hour drive so they can either stay or drive home, it will work either way.

We are doing ours on a Saturday, but because it isn't considered "wedding season" I'm getting a Sunday rate. Otherwise, we probably would have opted for Friday night or Sunday wedding. The savings is way too much to turn down. I personally think the people that leave early would be the same people that would leave early regardless and the ones that stay late, would stay late regardless.

We are doing a Sunday wedding ONLY because of the date we wanted, otherwise I would have chosen a Saturday. However, I'm glad I didn't choose 10/12/13 because it ends up being my 20 year HS reunion! (I'm not going, but a couple of my guests will be).

It didn't save us any money to have it on a Sunday. Smiley sad At this point, it's at 4:30 running until 10pm. I'm thinking of having it start an hour later because it's still pretty hot at 430 (AZ heat and outside wedding/reception).

We are having Sunday wedding starting at 6 pm. Venue's open to the public til 5 so 6 is the earliest events can start, reception's going til 11:30. it's saving us $1000, but we mostly did it because it was a date that worked for us and immediate family members (we both have siblings in college). we are having a lot of OOT people too, including us, but hopefuilly the people we are especially close to will make sure they can come. Smiley smile

My ceremony is on a Sunday due to cultural reasons since there are projected good dates to be married. There will be small Asian reception that night. Then the following Saturday is a cocktail style reception with friends so we can easily share with them the time until midnight.

Ours is on a Sunday too. The difference from Sat to Sun was $75 more pp!!! So yeah, Sunday please!!!

But I'm choosing a Sunday before a Monday holiday that way most ppl will be off the next day anyway. It's going to be on Oct 12, 2014 before Columbus day. Ours is starting at 5 and we have til 11:30.
