Anybody register at Bed Bath and Beyond?

mrs mom, on August 1, 2011 at 8:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 48

We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to register and the lady at the registration desk took us around the store trying to sell us stuff, telling us what she thought we should register for and she held the scanner the entire time and did all the scanning. Is this common procedure for that store? It was so weird and very uncomfortable. My Fh finally got frustrated because she was giving him no input so he left and came back later. Anyplace else we've registered (Macy's and Target) just gave us the scanner and said have fun. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just our store? Did you find it strange?

We started ours online and went into the store to add things. I think that kept them from harassing us.

That's very weird lol. We had ours at Bed Bath and Beyond and thats not how we did it. Yes a lady help us registered and she gave a booklet with "ideas" we might need at the house and also a checklist but they did gave us the scanner and told us "Have fun guys" lol. I also agree with going online I added stuff on the website its easier and harrasment-free lol. I had one at target but after hearing lots of stories on how they bad they are with their "retuning policy" I decided to cancel it. Bed Bath and Beyond guarantees a hassle-free return policy (store credit) which is find with me =D

I work at Macys, but I am registering at target lol... just because I am having a very small wedding and not expecting many gifts, so I thought target would be perfect just for a small registry... but that is weird... I wouldn't like that!

I went in person and had a great experience. They offered to help me but I declined. They did give me the option of having a checklist which I didn't need. They stopped me every once in awhile to check on me but they pretty much left me alone. I had alot of fun there. I also registered at Kohl's and that wasn't a great experience.

They didn't give us an option of help she just took over. I was really looking forward to registering too, shopping without spending money, what could be more fun?!

We registered there (partially in store and partially online). We had fun doing it, too.

I did notice though that random things on our registry that we didn't add when we got home, and today (too) I noticed that there were more new things on there that we didn't register for. I hate martinis, so WHY are there martini glasses on our registry?? Weird.

I had the same thing happen to me. She took us around and picked out all sorts of ridiculous items that FH and I both HATED. My FH did the same thing as yours and finally walked away and left me with the crazy lady. I ended up going online the same day and deleting everything she did except my china. I ended up just building my registry online.

I think it really took all the fun out of registering, i loved picking out my stuff and using the scanner!

Savanna my experience was the same. We had much more fun when they walked away for awhile and we started scanning like crazy. The lady actually popped back up out of nowhere and she goes I noticed you only registered for 6 of this. Are you sure that is all you will need? (they were placemats for a table) I was like mam our table seats 4 and I am sure that people sitting on a couch would not like a placemat on their laps.

Ashley some things on our registry we didn't add showed up because people bought them. It shows requested as 0 and received as 1

Sounds strange for me. They gave us the scanner and we did it on our own. Try to go back another time and hope that the same lady isn't there.

We registered there and she just gave us the scanner, a few tips, and left. We added stuff online afterwards (we also deleted stuff too). You can just delete everything the psycho lady scanned and either go back in to do it yourself, or add online. It should be fun, not annoying!!!

Our lady shopped with us but we chose what we wanted and didn't want. She was helpful, not pushy.

    I would talk to a manager =\

Registered online and I'm still adding online. I don't have time to go in store these days.

I'm wondering if it isn't some new policy they are trying to implement to boost sales and not all stores are doing it yet. If anyone else decides to register there take my advise and be more assertive than I was and ask them if you can do it yourself. I hated having her monitering our every move.

That's strange. We've been in person probably 3 or 4 times (to at least 3 different stores) and never had that experience. The first time the woman showed us how to add (and delete) a few different items. She gave us a checklist with more than we could ever want to add. Gave us a few pointers of where we might want to look first. Then she set us free. The other times, they've just showed us quickly how to use the scanner if it's different and that's it.
