Alternatives to Wedding March

Kristi, on January 19, 2012 at 6:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Ok so I need some help finding an alternative song to the traditional wedding march. I just can't picture myself walking down the aisle to that dum, dum, da da. It feels a tad too formal for me. But I think it's necessary for a change in music before my dad & I come out.

My wedding party will be walking out to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Any suggestions on another tune that can be played for oh, all of 30 seconds? I've been on youtube but no luck so far and you gals always have grreat ideas.

Thanks Smiley smile

Well since it will be immediately following the other song, and only about 30 seconds will be played..... I really think it should just be an instrumental piece of some sort. I'm open to any genre. I'm just a bit stumped.

You can go with your favorite song, just search for it without the words

I'm leaning towards "Bridal March" by Jonathan Cain. It's def more beautiful than the traditional march.

How about the ever-lovely "Canon in D" by Pachelbe? It's gorgeous!

We are doing a song by Tool. I just edited it down to a shorter version (original was 7.5 minutes!) =)

This is the song that I am doing, if you know the song you know the words have nothing to do with a wedding but the instrumental is just SOOO beautiful!!

We used the bridal march by jonathan cain. It is definitely more soft and subtle than the traditional bridal march, but still has the melody worked in. You should give it a listen Smiley smile

My daughter sang Etta James' "At Last" at our wedding.

It's just an idea but we're going to play "Marry Me" by Train. My cousin played Big & Rich's "Lost in the Moment" when she walked down the aisle, probably because of the part with "lift your veil, angels start singing such a heavenly tune" for when she got to the altar.
