My family has several alcoholics in it and there are a few on DH's side as well. Instead of telling them they aren't invited, we decided not to have any alcohol at the wedding or reception. My family has several alcoholics in it and there are a few on DH's side as well. Instead of telling them they aren't invited, we decided not to have any alcohol at the wedding or reception. Any advice on how to handle these people? Also, one of my cousins is an alcoholic and he keeps saying he's in charge of the bachelor party. Which is not happening. DH doesn't like him because of his drinking, any advice on how to tell him no?

You don't need to have no alcohol at your wedding because of a few alcoholics. I have a lot of alcoholic family members as well and we're having alcohol. Either they will continue to be sober or they'll find a way to drink regardless. The bartenders will cut people off before it gets too bad.

Flagged again, Zoe, for your poor attempt at a veiled slam on community members.

Really, you need to actually find out what defines alcoholism clinically, and you really should let your supervisor know that you're diagnosing online, people you have never met nor who have sought your counsel. Good way to get your license revoked. Wish I knew where you were so I could report you myself.

There ya go! Zoe, why did you make us wait so long?

I want to know how many of Zoe's incorrect and possibly damaging threads have to be flagged before she gets the three week cleanse of not being here?

Did we get called alcoholics again? Zoe, I urge you to review the DSM criteria for substance abuse and take some CEUs on cultural competency (reference to your comment from another post).

I understand this is years past the original post but I just want to say how horrifically rude some of you people are. They aren't "brutally honest" they're just rude and extremely ignorant.
