9/11/10 Wedding

So I know my wedding date is not a good date, but we choose it for a specific reason. It would have been his parents 40th wedding anniversary, his mom passed last year. We both decided good thigs can happen on that day too.

Well a couple months ago, I registered with a real estate agent at a wedding far, as we are planning to buy a home soon. He just callled, said "I know its close to your wedding date....9/11 huh? That's an ominous date, hope the wedding doesnt blow up."

I was like WHAT??? Are you kidding me?? I hung up on him. I cant beleive some people.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with your date. Yes, in the US it is a strong date but I am sure if we all did a little reseach we could find a tragic event that happened on our dates as well. I can imagian that it has been hard fielding that question all the time though.

    We did a wedding the last time 09/11 fell on a weekend (can't remember Friday, Saturday, etc.), and our 9/11 this year is booked. Plus, my cousin is getting married that day in Ohio. She's marrying a serviceman.

    I'm sure if you look hard enough every single day of the year has a negative connotation to someone.

    I have the same wedding date. I've had a lot of crap for it too. We don't have a special reason, only b/c we got a discount on our venue. I normally say "September 11" when someone asks...it makes them think about it longer!Smiley smile Happy planning! Smiley smile

    P.S. the discount was for any Dates after Sept. 7th ..that was the only Sat. left open..

    Umm wow, that was really insensitive. I know you might be tired of hearing things like this, but you have to just ignore people like that. there are stupid people everywhere we go. Just focus on the joys of your wedding. Smiley smile
