So I know my wedding date is not a good date, but we choose it for a specific reason. It would have been his parents 40th wedding anniversary, his mom passed last year. We both decided good thigs can happen on that day too. Well a couple months ago, I registered with a real estate agent at a wedding...

Well a couple months ago, I registered with a real estate agent at a wedding far, as we are planning to buy a home soon. He just callled, said "I know its close to your wedding date....9/11 huh? That's an ominous date, hope the wedding doesnt blow up."

I was like WHAT??? Are you kidding me?? I hung up on him. I cant beleive some people.

I also have 9/11/10 as my wedding date. I didn't even realize the connection until someone made a joke about it yesterday. Whatever. It is the best time of year for us at the end of summer when it isn't too hot and it's on a Saturday.

I think the agent was probably just trying to be funny (and he failed miserably) but I don't think he intended to be offensive.

It is just a day. Babies are born and people are married. And these happened on 9/11/01 too. It is just a date!!!! I got married on 9/12 of last year. If it means something to you then that is wonderful, ignore the ones that put you down about it.

I agree with NavyBlueBride. There are A LOT of "events" that happened on many dates. Do people get weird when someone gets married on the "anniversary" of Dday? Or Valentines Day? NYE? Christmas? Halloween? Lincolns Birthday? MLK Day? Blasphamy. I like your date! I have a good friend from high school getting married on that date and I can't wait to attend his wedding!

I'm with everyone else-it's just a date. Although there is a lot of respect and remembrance behind it. And you have meaning behind it. That was incredibly disrespectful, in so many ways for him to say that to you!

Yes ... it's a GREAT day for you to be married ... being his parents wedding anniversary makes it perfect and if anyone has anything to say about it ... they are displaying ignorance ... if it were me i would tell them it's his parents anniversary and worked just fine for them nearly 40 years ... and we're keeping the tradition ... it should shut anyone up ... and leave only congratulations ... oh .. and i'm also glad you hung up on him ... plenty more where he came from ... it was insensitive and just plain rude ...

I can't believe he would actually say that. First of all is was disrespectful to you but pretty unpatriotic as well.

Our wedding date as well...i had crap from people also. Dont worry about it and tell them its time to make 9/11 positive and let that one bad day be in the past not the future!! =)

Not a good way to recruit business... Hope his business doesn't blow up (with sarcasm, of course), jacka$$!

I think people forget the ways that tragedies can pull people together and strengthen their bonds...

You are a better woman than I am. I would have cursed him out, then hung up on him. What if you were doing that date in rememberance of someone who passed that day? Totally insensitive!

You would think being in a business that relies on your connection with people he would have been smarter about his remarks. I had someone do this to me when I was little bc I was born on Pearl Harbor Day and they went off making weird comments about that (like I or my mom had total control over when I was born 45 years later). Navy Bride is right that all of us have something good happen on a date that something horrible has happened in the past. I think your reasoning on why that's your day is very meaningful and is a tribute to how great your marriage will be!
