Can you guys give me some tips on what dress types would be good for me. My stomach is pretty flat for the most part. Being a 38DDD would I be able to fit into a strapless? If not what type of dress would you suggest?

Oh girl no worries, im a 38E I was worried about how i was going to tuck the girls away because i did not want to look sloppy on my wedding. For sure going to need something with straps to hold em up, I got the davids bridal 9t3090 dress... I love it! not only does it help with the " girls" it also hides the little armpit fat, and makes my stomach look awesome!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your responses this helps calm my nerves A LOT. So this is the dress i've found that I absolutely love. I'm sure it will be too small since I'm a size 16 in regular clothes but we'll see what happens. I have already lost 10 lbs and since my wedding isn't til August I plan to lose another 30lbs. So maybe I will get to wear this.

You will rock the &*%^ out of a mermaid or a fit-and flare style. Those are MADE for girls with the perfect hourglass.

But i'm not a perfect hourglass my thighs and hips are huge.. I think the mermaid and fit and flare would be too fitting for me. I was thinking maybe a sweetheart neck line with rousing and a line

A slight pear shape is also considered an ultra feminine shape ;D

Don't be so hard on yourself. Try a little of everything. You never know until it's on you if it works or not. Plus every silhouette can be intrepreted differently by different designers. So one mermaid may look awful but a different one might look amazing. A-lines are not an exception from this either. Some look great on you and some don't.

If you go strapless a corset top is a MUST (38DDD here). I went with a halter cause I felt safer having a little more material holding the girls in...

I would say try on a little of each and see what you feel comfortable with/goes with your vision and style.

V-neck worked great for me and the girls'. Smiley smile

A-line seems to be flattering for many people.

Tamara...Is it possible for you to post a full view photo of yourself....I think that would help us help you

I think satin or sheer would be good for the material its a nice camouflage and maybe a one strapped dress would be nice

ABsolutely you can do a strapless im a 38DDD, and i have one.. wore one to my sisters wedding too, they will be FIT to you, and sit higher on your chest, you wont spill out. I think a pretty A-line would be good for you. I googled, best wedding dress for your shape, and i read a lot about it.. for ME a fit n flare was best... but i got one and did it strapless and that was the one i fell in love with.... the others i didnt like on me... so research, you'll look great!

Girl I feel you! I am a size 8 through my waist and hips and a size 14 in the bust..I got my gown from Brides by Demetrios, and IT ROCKS! I went with a light halter (simple straps with beautiful detailing)..I was not happy at Davids bridal, had horrible service, and my lady was helping 4 other brides..I went with the halter because I did not want to be pulling on my dress all night..mine is a corset up the back as well!

I am the same chest size as you and I am wearing a strapless dress. I don't think I could feel comfortable in any other style of dress. I'm even going bra-less cause I don't want to hassle with finding a strapless bra in my size (cause they never seem to be able to support the girls anyway).

As far as being flattering, I think the A-line style dresses are flattering on everyone. It'll accentuate your waist, but taper out at your hips.

Wow Lindsay your getting married 2 months after me and I haven't even gone dress shopping yet. I suppose I better get a move on things. Sabrina thanks for the research I think the A line will be the first style of dress I will try and go from there. The only thing that's somewhat depressing is that I will have to get plus size dresses cause as far as i know i'm a size 16 in pants. I suppose i'll start at David's Bridal and go from there. I just don't have a big budget for my dress we thought the wedding was only gonna cost around 5k and now it's going to be around 10k.

It is all about how great your fit and alterations are...I wouldnt do anything too low cut, but you can def rock strapless! You seem to have a nice hourglass shape....maybe a mermaid?!

And speaking from a girl that wears padded bras and is researching inserts to wear in my bra on my wedding day....be proud of those ta tas, whatever you end up wearing!! Accentuate your positives!!!!

I have a pretty small waist but I am VERY hippy.....I saw a mermaid on DB that I fell in love with but didn't think it would work with my pear shape...and it was perfect! They are much more forgiving than you think...what would make it better woul be ome REAL boobs!!

Goddess Bra. They have the most fantastic fit.

Inside belt for the dress, if the dress does not have one, have a belt put in the dress at the time of your alterations, this will help support the dress, holding it to your waist so that you are not hiking it up.

VELCRO. Yes, velcro. tabs of velcro at the top of the dress to the bra, and even on the midriff.

I once fit a bride that was a size 12 body, but needed a size 20 gown fitted to her because of her bustline, she was that seriously endowed. She picked an off the shoulder gown with long lace sleeves, aline skirt. She was secure in her dress and was able to dance the night away with the girls staying in place perfectly behaved!

You will need to order the dress for your bust size, so please don't be upset if you are told that you need to order a much larger dress size than your street size. The gown can be tailored for your waist and hips. Bridal gowns are a very close to the body fit, with no extra wearing ease.

I know that many of you want to try to do without the extra bra. But unless your dress has a serious, and I mean SERIOUS corset in it, then do yourself a favor and invest in the right undergarment. You will be so glad you did for the sake of how you feel, and for how you look in your pictures.

Ok, the bras are not always that pretty. And they are not cheap. But if you are investing this much money in a beautiful wedding dress, don't skimp on the foundation garments for your body that is molding the dress into its proper shape.

And that inside belt, its belt loops sewn on the inside at waist level, with 1 1/2" wide elastic for the belt. Couture dresses use this to hold up the weight of the gown on the

    waist and hips.

And don't forget the velcro. Seriously.

I'm a 46 DDD and I have a strapless dress. I didn't buy it from Davids bridal but I did try it on there 1st. They had lots of dresses I could try on and the one I bought had to be taken up slightly in the chest. I feel really secure in my dress, it does have a corset back that really helps.
