The Obici House is available for hosting beautiful and memorable weddings in Suffolk, Virginia. Located within Sleepy Hole Golf Course, this mansion offers both historic architectural details and beautiful natural surroundings, including expansive views of the Nansemond River. The history and serenity of this location is sure to create a magical wedding day.

Facilities and Capacity

Indoor and outdoor locations are available for your wedding event. The Obici House’s clean white façade is accentuated by a calming blue sky, neighboring river and other surrounding elements of nature and pristine Sleepy Hole Golf Course. The Italian-inspired style and history of the venue are evident from the grand entrance to the exquisite indoor structural details. Classic chandeliers illuminate the space with light and elegance along with the rich woodwork and tile throughout the venue. A special element of this venue is the original stained glass windows, a reminder of the uniqueness of this space. Choose from a number of indoor spaces for your wedding event or outdoor locations, such as the entrance supported by Greek columns or under the pergola, a setting perfected by an idyllic view of the water. The Obici House can accommodate up to 150 people indoor and unlimited guests outdoors.

History

Amedeo Obici, an Italian immigrant and founder of Planter’s Peanuts, lived at The Obici House on Bay Point Farm with his wife, Louise. The house was styled after an Italian villa, on a 263-acre farm. Details, including two lions from Paris lining the driveway, Greek columns and expansive windows, create an example of exceptional architectural detail of Italian inspiration. The Bay Point Farm was part of the Sleepy Hole Farm, sold to Obici in 1924, where he lived until his passing in 1947.

Wolff Wedding

Staff went beyond the call of duty to help the day of to help in the kitchen and support the caterer. they were a life saver. staff was around at all times for questions and support. prior to the wedding Terry had great suggestions and teamwork to make our event go as smooth as possible.

Retirement

When he retired my husband wanted to celebrate his staff of many years. The Obici house was a natural choice since we both worked at Obici for many years and had attended numerous functions there. We could not have asked for a better experience from planning to the celebration it was seamless and painless thanks to the dedicated staff that oversee the venue. We highly recommend the Obici House for any celebration and especially a wedding as it’s a beautiful venue.

Pleasantly Surprised and Delightfully Sophisticated

If you want a venue that embodies an air of sophistication and character, then the Obici House may be just the spot for you. There's plenty of charm, a beautiful tree-lined drive that leads up to the manor, and ample parking for guests. When you walk through the door, you can't help but feel the beauty of the manor surrounded by wood finishes, parquet floors, and a classic checkerboard dance floor in front of a grand fireplace, and oh yes, windows with a view. Indeed, these are the highlights I was looking for to host my mother's 85th surprise birthday celebration. It's a well-kept venue with a scenic view, nestled adjacent to the Nansemond River. What made our celebration successful was my collaboration with the excellent management staff, led by Ms. Terry Tagg and Ms. Sharon Day. If you're searching for a venue with class, charm, and eloquence, search no more - it's the Obici House.

So happy with our choice!!

Our wedding at the Obici House was everything and more! The entire team working was amazing! They went above and beyond the entire process. I am so happy I chose this venue and I highly recommend to anyone thinking about having their wedding here.

Obici House

The Obici House was a wonderful place to have our small reception after our ceremony. It was beautiful, and the staff was easy to work with and flexible! We had to book late, because our plans changed a lot with COVID, and they made the process and transition really easy. This venue was beautiful and wonderful!

Stunning locations with friendly staff

Terry and Sharon are great to work with, they were there to answer all the questions and guide you through all the stages. Fast and thorough response to all questions and it was very easy to schedule times to see the venue before your big day. The balcony makes stunning wedding pictures!

Short Notice Wedding Dream Come True

My husband decided to move our wedding date up a year due to his departure for assignment. We started planning on December 30th and were able to get reasonable pricing, a tour of the venue, and secure thIs venue for our Ceremony on January 10th. We had a small indoor ceremony with 23 guests. If you looking for a vintage and intimate feel, I recommend this venue. The Bridal Suite and private dining room are amazing. One stop Celebrating!!

The Obici House was a wonderful experience for us and our guests. The wedding celebration was held on the steps of the house and the reception was inside. Included in the cost of the Venue, are the tables, chairs and basic linens not to mention they carry the liquor license and have huge amounts of parking. This is where you can get nickeled and dimed so having it all there really pays off. Terry was wonderful to work with and we appreciated her input on many preparations. There is plenty of parking and a beautiful view of the Sleepy Hole Gold Course and the Nansemond River. The Obici House is a beautiful historic home that needs very little decorating (another savings) with modern day amenities for your DJ. I highly recommend this venue for anyone that wants an indoor or outdoor venue!

Beautiful Charm and Great Staff!

Obici House is an absolutely beautiful wedding venue. We were married there in November and the Fall leaves and gorgeous sunset over the water made this place a dream for us. The staff was unbelievably helpful and they were so flexible during the planning process (can I move this couch? YES! Can I bring my dogs for the ceremony? YES! Can I have corn hole boards outside? YES!). For the price, it is a HUGE venue - which you get full access to! There is a bridal suite, it's fully wired with TVs so guests can watch the dance floor throughout the house, and the dining room has full water views! Terry even rode a golf cart down to the water to bring my husband and I food and champagne while we took sunset photos (so we didn't miss out on the cocktail hour!). I would definitely recommend booking Obici House for your wedding!!
