We cannot say enough good things about Pastries a-la-carte. They are definitely more pricey than other places we looked at, but they had the best tasting cake and fillings and their decorating is pure perfection. Our cake was even more beautiful than I envisioned and our guests loved the cookie trays we got. I would definitely reccomend them for your special day.

We felt cared for as one of their own family members as soon as we sat down for our initial tasting. They had a ton of options for cakes, dessert bars & cookies. Everything we sampled was delicious! Our wedding cake looked exactly as we had designed it in our final meeting, it was stunning! We will continue to use Signature Desserts going forward & highly recommend them to all couples looking for a bakery.

April was such a pleasure to work with and her cake and desserts are DELICIOUS! She provided free samples so generously so that we could get an idea of what we wanted. She was very helpful in deciding what desserts to go with as well and everything was so amazing that we got more stuff from her for my nephew’s first birthday. I couldn’t recommend April more!

We ordered our wedding cake from Potomac Bakery after having tastings at a total of 4 bakeries. Their special wedding icing sealed the deal--smooth and sweet but not gritty with sugar. We met with Nikki and looked at a lot of cake photos. The one we chose was a classic design, customized with our colors and cake flavor and filling flavors. Our cake was absolutely beautiful! I didn't see it until we walked into the reception and it looked so pretty sitting on a little table with special lighting to show it off. More importantly, it tasted delicious and was exactly what we wanted. I also ordered a "groom's cake" from them, which we served for dessert at the rehearsal dinner. For that one, I chose chocolate cake, which is the groom's favorite. Sometimes chocolate cake can be dry, but this cake was not, it was a nice moist chocolate cake and was really good. I had a golf scene put on the top and they customized it! They asked me what color the groom's hair is and the golfer on the cake really resembled the groom--he actually thought for a minute that it was him! I was very pleased with it and it was really reasonably priced. As for prices, I was surprised at how inexpensive our wedding cake was. Our cake was big enough to feed 160 people, we were still able to keep the top tier, and the price was under $600! Of course, pricing often depends on how difficult and labor intensive your design is, but I felt that I really received value for the price I paid. If you're planning a wedding, do yourself a favor and have a tasting with Potomac Bakery. You'll be glad you did!

We couldn't have been more thrilled with Eliza's desserts for our Wedding Day! We had a Speakeasy Themed wedding and Eliza went above and beyond to make her desserts fit our creative (and theatrical) theme! She took such great care of us and our guests, and everyone couldn't get enough of her desserts!! We highly recommend Prohibition Pastries for any event in Pittsburgh. Eliza is so creative, friendly, professional, organized, and eagerly open to any challenge that comes her way!! She was a dream to work with, and we were so thrilled with the outcome!

We asked Kara to make us a pretty non-traditional cake. We had a Lord of the Rings idea in mind, based off some pictures from Pinterest. She was totally on board with our vision, and seemed genuinely excited to do it! The result was truly spectacular! The guests were so impressed as well. Will definitely be back for future baked goodies.

We had a cocktail reception instead of a sit-down dinner, so I decided to have a macaron tower instead of a traditional cake. We chose fall colors, which limited our options, but still gave enough variety. I asked a lot of questions about the flavors of the different macarons and really would have liked to have been able to sample them so I would have known if I wanted certain flavors or not, but they didn't offer to let me try any of the flavors. They was the only aspect of their service I found less than ideal.

Darrin and the Grandview Bakery team made my wedding cake. It was not only beautiful - exactly what I had hoped for - but also completely delicious. We went for a subtle almond flavored white cake with raspberry jam and cream cheese cream layers. Light, not too sweet, and the perfect consistency. Our guests loved it. I also adored Grandview (and Darrin) for their unpretentiousness. Grandview is a local bakery rooted in community, and it shows. Everyone who works there is so kind and down to earth. It represents the best of Pittsburgh - that close knit community feeling that only people who grew up in the Burgh can put their finger on. The cakes and other baked goods speak for themselves, but the people make this place just as much as the desserts. Thank you Darrin and team - we're so grateful and can't wait to come back.

Jodi created a beautiful "Candy Bar" for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah which coordinated with the look of our flowers and venue. She also created a Sweet Table we put out with appetizers which were beautifully displayed. She spent a lot of time listening to exactly what I wanted and was able to execute it beyond my expectations.
