We ordered our wedding cake from Potomac Bakery after having tastings at a total of 4 bakeries. Their special wedding icing sealed the deal--smooth and sweet but not gritty with sugar. We met with Nikki and looked at a lot of cake photos. The one we chose was a classic design, customized with our colors and cake flavor and filling flavors. Our cake was absolutely beautiful! I didn't see it until we walked into the reception and it looked so pretty sitting on a little table with special lighting to show it off. More importantly, it tasted delicious and was exactly what we wanted.
I also ordered a "groom's cake" from them, which we served for dessert at the rehearsal dinner. For that one, I chose chocolate cake, which is the groom's favorite. Sometimes chocolate cake can be dry, but this cake was not, it was a nice moist chocolate cake and was really good. I had a golf scene put on the top and they customized it! They asked me what color the groom's hair is and the golfer on the cake really resembled the groom--he actually thought for a minute that it was him! I was very pleased with it and it was really reasonably priced.
As for prices, I was surprised at how inexpensive our wedding cake was. Our cake was big enough to feed 160 people, we were still able to keep the top tier, and the price was under $600! Of course, pricing often depends on how difficult and labor intensive your design is, but I felt that I really received value for the price I paid.
If you're planning a wedding, do yourself a favor and have a tasting with Potomac Bakery. You'll be glad you did!

After meeting with a few different bakeries, this was by far the best place for us. We received a lot of compliments on our cake both for taste and appeal/presentation. They were very reasonable with pricing and working with us on decorating/color/flavors.

I wanted a cake which was rarely made anymore. One with pillars and steps, Potomac Bakery was able to make this happen, the cake was everything I imagined and then some! Pink and Yellow Roses, and tasted amazing! Potomac Bakery was also very reasonable with their prices. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a yummy cake at an affordable price.

I actually did not get my wedding cake from Potomac but we did get my cake for my bridal shower there (my only request)! I love their cakes and would have got my wedding cake from Potomac but my package from my venue included a cake from another bakery. Needless to say, the cake for my shower was perfect! It was delicious and they made it match the invite! Everyone at the shower loved it and asked where we got it from.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious! It turned out so much nicer then we had ever anticipated. People kept asking us where we had gotten our cake from because they couldn't get over how pretty it was. And the price was extremely reasonable!! I would highly recommend them to everyone!

They were absolutely perfect to work with! I wanted a style of cake that they had never done, and they agreed to do it whole-heartedly! They are also truly the best deal in town- the cake is the best you will ever eat, and the price cant be beat.

I get all my cakes, cookies, dinner rolls, pies, etc. from this bakery. My wedding cake was absolutly georgous. They worked with my ideas and made it happen. I would recommend this bakery to anyone. And they have a nice variety of cakes also.
