Which factors impact wedding cake prices?

Not surprisingly, the bigger and more elaborate a wedding cake is, the higher the cost of a wedding cake will be. A wedding cake featuring lots of design elements, including sugar flowers, fondant details, many tiers, and unique shapes, will cost more than a simpler cake with classic buttercream icing, a few fresh flowers, and fewer tiers. While your flavor choice likely won’t have an impact on your wedding cake’s price, requesting certain custom flavors may raise your wedding cake cost a bit.

What is the starting price of a wedding cake?

The starting price of a wedding cake can vary depending on the type of frosting you prefer. Cakes covered in fondant, a sugary paste-like icing, tend to cost more than cakes covered in buttercream (frosting made from butter and sugar). We worked with Chloe’s Creme Puffs for our wedding in December, and given that we are not huge cake people, we opted to go with a large display of various creme puffs and other small, portable desserts so we could keep the dancing going all night long. From the initial tasting with Alison (who made us feel so special and gave us such an amazing sampling of desserts), to the ordering and booking, to finally enjoying the desserts on our wedding day, Chloe’s Creme Puffs was an absolute joy to work with. We were able to satisfy all different palettes and dietary restrictions with the desserts we chose, and all guests were raving about the Creme Puffs, the dessert shooters, and the mini fruit crumbles. Everyone seemed to have a different favorite dessert, which made for a really fun and interesting experience, and shows how impressive it is that they are able to execute on such a wide array of options! Would absolutely recommend Chloe’s Creme Puffs for any couple who wants to wow their guests with all types of desserts!
