Not surprisingly, the bigger and more elaborate a wedding cake is, the higher the cost of a wedding cake will be. A wedding cake featuring lots of design elements, including sugar flowers, fondant details, many tiers, and unique shapes, will cost more than a simpler cake with classic buttercream icing, a few fresh flowers, and fewer tiers. While your flavor choice likely won’t have an impact on your wedding cake’s price, requesting certain custom flavors may raise your wedding cake cost a bit.

What is the starting price of a wedding cake?

The starting price of a wedding cake can vary depending on the type of frosting you prefer. Cakes covered in fondant, a sugary paste-like icing, tend to cost more than cakes covered in buttercream (frosting made from butter and sugar). Fondant is more durable than buttercream (and it won’t melt in the summertime!), but it’s generally thought of as less tasty. What’s included in the cost of a wedding cake?

She made our decision so easy the second we tried her cake, it was light, moist, and airy and the frosting was the perfect balance of rich and creamy. Our guests were so impressed with how amazing it tasted! The rental cake was absolutely stunning and people were shocked when they found out it wasn’t real, even though it wasn’t real we still got to keep the tradition of cutting the cake together, as there is a spot cut out to put the real cake. The sheet cakes were so easy to cut and there was no waste like we would of had if we went with the “traditional” cake.

We had the best experience working with this cake maker for our wedding. She had cake tasting cakes ready to go so quickly and really made our wedding cake perfect. When we had some modifications we wanted to make to the cake before the big day, she was super accommodating and made our cake vision come to life! It also tasted DELICIOUS. If you are a lemon person, her lemon cake with lemon curd inside is incredible. It was the first flavor my husband and I agreed on - we instantly looked up at each other and stated, "this is the one!" She's great to work with and the cakes are amazing.
