Sheena is a truly an exceptional photographer. We looked at and interviewed many photographers before we found Sheena, and immediately knew within same day that we wanted to move forward and work with her. She is easy going and direct, as well as a thought partner and artist. She went above and beyond to reassure us, from grabbing coffee with us after booking and chatting through our planning process. She was honest and transparent each step of the way, and extremely communicative and responsive to questions.

On the day of, she was the balance of firm in her direction and our biggest hype woman. She coached us in a way that helped us feel comfortable, and none of the pictures felt forced or had any awkward poses, because the photos she took were all natural, free-flowing, and elevated us in our element. She offered small nudges to stand straight, adjustments in posture or reminders to button jackets, all to make the photos even better and for everyone to look their best. And beyond how she supported us and our families day-of, the photos were amazing. Everyone in our lives were obsessed with how she captured the crisp fall mood at our beautiful menu and the special moments that happened throughout the day. She delivered a set of sneak peeks literally within days after the wedding, and delivered the full gallery in a timely fashion (faster than some of my other friends' expecting wedding albums).

One element extremely important to me was the editing of the photos, which is the bulk of the time that the photographers spend on the photos. Not only did we pour over many galleries and portfolios of photographers to compare editing styles, Sheena's response to our question on editing was one that resonated - she has rarely modified her editing approach through her career - which ensured that she would create a timeless look for our most cherished photos and not putting filters on photos based on the latest trends (no weird sepia look either!). Looking through our gallery, you can tell the care that she puts into selecting and editing her photos. Each photo chosen meant something and was important to the story of the day, and was not just quantity over quality (and there were hundreds!!) nor was it the same focus or filters on each photo. Also she includes film in her packages and she is fantastic at taking film photos, which takes great skill and also important to us.

Lastly, we worked with Sheena to create a printed album. She tirelessly made edits based on my perfectionist tendencies, and made a beautiful album with our favorite photos. She gives good guidance always and steers you toward the best options and final product.

Photography is one of the parts of the wedding planning process that feels like the biggest leap of faith because it's one of the only physical remnants of the best day. We are so glad we chose Sheena, and know that we will rely on her for a long time into the future as we build our lives together and have big and small moments documented.

Sheena Kim (Unique Lapin) did an incredible job!!!! Our engagement photos were absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I wanted as a casual stroll through Gramercy (our neighborhood)! She delivered sneak peeks fast and the full album was unbelievable!! I just got married on 9/9/23 and she absolutely killed it there as well!! I've only seen sneak peaks (about 100 of them!!) and they're stunning!!! I am continuously amazed with how well she captured both experiences and I am dying to see the rest of the wedding coverage! I don't even know where to begin with how amazing Sheena is. Honestly I don't know how we would have done our wedding without her. She was SO helpful in figuring out the scheduling, keeping the timeline of photos moving, and just being an all around boss. She really went above and beyond. Hiring Sheena was one of the best decisions I've ever made during the whole wedding process...besides marrying my husband:)! She is an amazing person...so cool, calm, collected and just so real. She is someone you would want to chat with, share stories, or even get a drink with! The reason I share those feelings/details is because she makes you feel so comfortable and also that you can trust her. I valued her opinion and advice and she made the whole experience better from engagement photos to the wedding. We were not used to being in front of a camera, and she made us feel and look like stars. I hired Sheena for our micro ceremony during Covid and cannot be happier with my decision. Prior to the ceremony, Sheena was super responsive to all of my ridiculous questions, and was so patient with the number of communications we had before the event date.

Having come across Sheena’s work for an previous wedding at our venue, we were blown away by her candid but elegant style of shooting.

After a quick Skype call, we were immediately put at ease by her easy-going manner and how she thoughtfully listened to our concerns. It was really important to us that our pictures didn’t seem posed and we were so relieved that Sheena was on the same page about capturing the spontaneous moments and highlighting our beautiful venue space (plus the few requisite family shots, too). We both instinctively knew that she was the photographer for us, and booking Sheena’s services was one of the easiest and best decisions we made during our wedding planning!

Sheena was wonderful to work with in the months leading up to the wedding, from the quick and painless online contract & payment to the very thoughtful card she sent to us at New Year’s. Upon meeting her in person a few weeks before the wedding, her professionalism was readily apparent and she gave us great recommendations about the order and composition of the various “required” photos (as well as tips on the overall timing for the day that proved immensely helpful). We knew we were in good hands, and in the stressful few weeks before the wedding, seriously appreciated how easy she made everything.

On the day of our wedding, Sheena showed up perfectly on time (after having arrived the day before to scout the perfect lighting and backdrops for our photos – wow!) and was composed, organized and efficient throughout the day’s events. In the pictures before the ceremony, she managed to coax natural smiles out of our young flower girls and ring bearer and put our wedding party at ease for some truly beautiful candid shots. Despite some limitations to shooting in a small church during our ceremony, Sheena truly captured some amazing moments, and she had such great ideas for our newlywed pictures that accentuated the beautiful outdoor surroundings at our venue. Perhaps even more impressively, she managed all of the obligatory family pics quickly so we could get back to the cocktail hour to mingle with our guests. This was no small feat, considering I come from a very large family (who had to be corralled away from the passed appetizers on multiple occasions  ).

After the wedding, Sheena returned the digital preview and final set of wedding pictures super quickly, and we were truly blown away. The pictures were absolutely breathtaking (despite an overcast March day), and she managed to capture so much joy (plus some truly amazing moves on the dance floor). Her pictures all seemed spontaneous and full of life, and she truly did justice to our beautiful friends and family (as well as our venue). Her photography truly showcased the most beautiful and best day of our lives, and we’re so grateful to Sheena for her amazing work.

We couldn’t possibly recommend her more highly. We absolutely loved working with her and hope to have other occasions to do so in the future, too.
