Fully renovated in Summer of 2020, Uptown Social is an historical wedding venue located in Michigan City, Indiana. Whether you are looking for a casual but elegant venue or something more stylish and sophisticated, the venue can bring any dream event to life. Located in the heart of the Uptown Arts District, Uptown Social is situated right along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. At this venue, vintage really does meet modern elegance, which makes this versatile event space the ideal spot for your next elegant affair.

Facilities and Capacity
Uptown Social offers a stunning, two-story ballroom with a 40-foot dome ceiling. The restored ballroom dates back to 1867. Against the back wall is an opulent pipe organ. This backdrop ensures breathtaking photos and views during your ceremony and/or reception. We are capable of comfortably, efficiently hosting weddings from 100 to 275 guests.

We offer an experience that merges the past and the present through modern comfort and historical luxury. Gather, socialize and customize your experience by visiting our lounge, fully renovated event space, covered patio and iconic courtyard. Visit the lounge and enjoy a signature cocktail handcrafted and poured to perfection by one of our premier mixologists, reserve space in our fully transformed venue for any special occasion!

History
Originally built in 1867, this unique venue was once home to a church and then a historic theatre. More than a century later, its architecture has been meticulously restored to the beauty that it once possessed.

    My wedding day was an absolute dream and it was all because of The Uptown Center! Joy and her entire team were absolutely amazing! They were organized, detail-oriented, creative, helpful, responsive, and kind during the entire wedding planning process and on our wedding day. Her entire team made sure my wedding day and all the days leading up to it were absolutely perfect from start to finish. I live in Texas and Joy made the wedding planning process so easy and organized for me even though I was thousands of miles away! During the initial walk through of the venue I just knew that this was my dream-wedding venue. The venue is just so unique! It has such breathtaking historic charm that made me fall in love with it immediately. There is truly no other wedding venue like it in the area! Not only does it have a gorgeous ballroom, but also it has three beautiful bridal suites and a very large bar and cocktail lounge. There are also many beautiful backdrops for pictures inside and outside of the venue. My entire bridal party and all of my guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about the venue! The food and catering staff were also wonderful! We had so many different options to choose from for our wedding day menu and the food turned out delicious. This venue is a triple threat and has everything a bride could ever want– helpful and detail-oriented staff, wonderful food, and a uniquely beautiful ballroom. I cannot thank The Uptown Center enough for giving my husband and I our dream New Year's Eve wedding! We will definitely be recommending this venue to anyone planning their future wedding!! It is absolutely the best place to get married!

As the Chief Operating Officer of Uptown Social, Jeremy wears many hats to ensure the proper execution of daily operational procedures. No job is too big or too small!

Some of his key responsibilities include creating and implementing SOP’s, improving organizational functions, and creating/maintaining a team culture that values, recognizes and generates high performance, supports innovation and fosters growth.

Seeking to become a premier social spot in Michigan City, Uptown Social upholds a standard of excellence that cannot be superseded. Part of Jeremy’s job is to ensure that team members uphold that same standard of excellence in the workplace and in their daily lives, as they are the brand ambassadors of the organization.

As a Ball State University alumnus, his primary goal in life has been to use his knowledge and experience to help create a brand that aligns with his personal values and professional goals.

Jeremy often states that he has, indeed, “found that in Uptown Social. Over the years, he has mastered the art of event planning and takes great pride in making someone’s vision come to life.

Now, he is a key component in transforming an historic landmark into a space for gathering, socializing, and experiencing live music, signature small plates and upscale libations while maintaining its historic value and charm.

Jeremy leads the forefront in his passion of “bringing visions to life." He will do everything within his power to help you achieve yours.

General Manager

As the General Manager of Uptown Social, Judy brings 20 years of event creation, production and management, coupled with many years of administrative team leadership, Judy’s warm and friendly demeanor is matched by her attention to detail and her commitment to serve our community, guests, employees and authentic local artists.

Hired in 2019 as the (former) Uptown Center’s Venue/General Manager, Judy has shown, that whether it be managing weddings and other numerous events, or devoting her day to office management, time and team building, or her effort at community relationship building, she has proven to be a critical thinking problem solver and avid multitasker.

One of the greatest compliments a venue manager can receive is a glowing review from a valued client, “Jeremy and Judy made sure our day was exactly what we wanted from the very first meeting through the end of the reception.
