More Than Just a Photo Booth
The Self-Portrait Project was founded with social justice ideals as its roots and a love of photography as its driving force. We are culturally curious, socially conscious, and harnessing the communicative power of photography.
As a values-based enterprise we believe in gender equality, marriage equality, and that other worlds are possible. We believe that Black Lives Matter. We stand by Standing Rock.
The First and Best of its Kind
Established in 2009 in Brooklyn, New York, the Self-Portrait Project has benefitted from the eye and direction of National Geographic Traveler award-winning photographer Andy Lin, who for the last 13 years has overseen the taking of almost one million portraits across seven countries and 19 U.S. states by almost 100,000 participants.
