Sweetwater Branch Inn is a wedding venue located in Gainesville, Florida. Dating back as far as 1895, one of the venue’s available spaces, the Mckenzie House, is a beautifully restored Victorian-era mansion. Preserving the history of this mansion and the rest of the property is of utmost importance to the owners. However, helping couples to create their own history in this romantic inn means even more. This venue offers wedding spaces, both indoors and outdoors such as the outdoor patio, the pavilion, and the Grecian-style outdoor ceremony space. The pristine white columns can be adorned with floral displays and lights to create a romantic ceremony backdrop. The gardens center around a wooden gazebo which provides an intimate space for couples to recite their vows. With an abundance of greenery symbolic of Northern Florida, guests can follow the twisting paths to discover nearby ponds and an eclectic mix of fountains. Sweetwater Branch Inn offers two reception areas on site. McKenzie House provides guests with a cozy and peaceful space to make happy memories. The large veranda provides a quiet space to unwind and reminisce about the day’s events. The McKenzie Hall is a bright and spacious room that can host up to 250 guests and features glass doors overlooking the vibrant gardens. A courtyard decorated with twinkling lights lends a magical touch to any moment celebrated here. The hidden gem of this vintage inn is the eco-friendly salt pool and jacuzzis featured on-site.

Sweetwater Catering Company prepares and serves traditional Southern cuisine for events held at the inn. Sweetwater Branch Inn also offers on-site catering services that can accommodate various styles and budget requirements. We are your caterer and can create a custom wedding menu from an extensive variety of options, including different cuisisnes, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher options. Sweetwater Branch Inn (SWB) went above and BEYOND to make my wedding weekend everything I had dreamed of—and more. If I could give SWB a million out of five stars, I absolutely would!
My wedding was on March 16, 2025, and originally planned as an outdoor event. The team at SWB was incredibly flexible, allowing me to get creative with the venue and hold the ceremony and dinner in a different location than usual—an accommodation that was impressive in itself!
Just days before the wedding, a storm was predicted to hit. At the last minute, we ordered a tent for the gardens (something that had never been done before), completely reworked the layout we had spent over a year planning, and somehow, everything turned out perfectly!
Adrienne, the event coordinator, and Angel, the food and beverage coordinator, were nothing short of incredible. Adrienne went above and beyond, dedicating extra time and effort to ensure my vision came to life with all of the last-minute changes.
My close family stayed at the Inn and didn’t want to leave! Guests traveled from Canada, New York City, and even Sydney, Australia—and every single one of them raved about their stay. From the friendly and helpful staff to the elegant vintage decor and the delicious food (both at breakfast and the wedding!), they were beyond impressed.
I cannot say enough great things about Sweetwater Branch Inn and the amazing event venue they provide. They do everything with heart, which is so rare these days—and that, above all, meant the world to me and my guests.

Daughters wedding
Our daughter married the love of her life on September 30,2023 at Sweetwater Branch Inn and we could not be happier. From start to finish the venue and accommodations were truly amazing and we are so happy her and her husband found this place to have their special day at. Food was delicious, space was beautiful and the grounds are outstanding. Everything was truly magical and we as parents would highly recommend this venue.

Simply Amazing
Everything about SWB Inn is amazing! The staff was very nice and attentive. The location and venue was absolutely beautiful! I couldn't speak more highly about this venue. My wedding was everything I wanted it to be. The McKenzie garden is stunning in the day and at night. The Victorian architecture and character of the property adds to the whimsical atmosphere. The staff was very kind, quick to serve guests and take away finished dishes. The food was delicious, all the guests loved it! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.

2020 to 2022
We've had TWO weddings with Sweetwater! The team was so accommodating in the weeks leading up to our March 2020 wedding at the beginning of covid. We ultimately ended up postponing our full celebration, but they still let us have an intimate wedding in the gardens.
Fast forward two years - the team made it a breeze to pick-up where we left of for our rescheduled wedding celebrations. Adrienne was a delight to work with (as well as Maria and Casey previously) and the reception went off without a hitch! Everyone was raving about the meal and the venue. The catering staff was super friendly and helpful during the event. Staying on site made set-up a breeze. The Nora-Belle Cottage is a great option for a wedding party to get ready.
My only advice is that if you are planning for your guests to stay on site, check with the lodging office to make sure they haven't booked a special event (booked out more than the year in advance that you can reserve a room) for the date you are looking at. We were surprised to find out that most of the single rooms had been booked for a Rhodes Scholar event during the 2020 planning process. We had guests prepared to book their rooms the exact date that it was 365 days out, but the rooms were already gone, so that was disappointing. But in the grand scheme of things, no complaints here! We are so glad we had our wedding at Sweetwater!

Our wedding at Sweetwater was amazing!
We just had our wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn on 2-11-22 and couldn't have been happier! From the beginning, their event staff have been professional, accommodating, informative, and responsive. They have many different options to work with you at different price points, and they provide a reception coordinator, catering, and linens and basic decor which is nice. The venue is beautiful and I couldn't have been happier with how everything looked on our wedding day. Everything ran smoothly and the food was delicious as well. We also stayed in one of the rooms at the BnB the night before and of our wedding, as did our families and friends coming from out of town. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and all decorated differently. We had so much fun just checking out everyone's different rooms and hanging out on the property. The breakfast was delicious as well. All in all, we had a great experience!

Perfect venue & perfect wedding
My wedding theme was Cottagecore Fairytale and this incredible venue hit the nail on the head! My husband & I got married in the Sweetwater Branch Inn gardens on a gorgeous, clear, and crisp November during sunset. The entire day was magical and I attribute a large amount of that to the knowledgeable, prepared, & courteous Sweetwater staff that worked very hard to ensure that my day was special. My husband and I selected the weekend package which included rehearsal time & dinner on Friday. Wedding on Saturday. Morning after brunch on Sunday with a mimosa bar and an incredible buffet of delectable food!! I cannot say enough about the food. The food was divine! All three days, absolutely incredible food. Every single server was kind and friendly. They all smiled and tried to anticipate needs. The day of the wedding, the lovely wedding coordinator at Sweetwater, Maria, personally found me & mr husband at the reception and brought us a tray of all the foods that were going out. This way we got to mingle AND enjoy the food that we selected. Everything about my wedding was magical. I will definitely be coming back for an anniversary to have another party.
PS I forgot to mention how incredible the honeymoon cottage is! There is a jacuzzi in the room as well as a fire place, kitchen, and bathroom with standing shower. The bed in the honeymoon cottage is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. It is so good I emailed Sweetwater to inquire about the brand & type (and they responded immediately too!).

Love Them!
I cannot say enough amazing things about Sweetwater Branch Inn. Maria & Casey were insightful, patient, and thorough through the planning process. Day of, the food was incredible and all my guests had nothing but great things to say. We also stayed in the Island Grove room to get ready in and I loved the natural light and spacious design. Sweetwater Branch is the complete package for everything a bride needs!

I had my wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn on 5/30/21 and it was absolutely beautiful! I could not have asked for a better venue to have my wedding at. All of our close family and friends stay on property at Sweetwater for the wedding and everyone kept raving about how beautiful the property was! I had the pleasure of working with the event directors at Sweetwater Branch Inn for over 2 years while planning my wedding. Sweetwater was EXTREMELY understanding and easy to work with when my wedding had to be postponed twice due to covid. They consistently were quick to answer emails, phone calls and give professional advice throughout the postponement and planning process. Sweetwater also provides in-house catering for weddings and the food was absolutely delicious. I had multiple people tell me it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! I would book my wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing wedding experience!
