Sweetwater Branch Inn (SWB) went above and BEYOND to make my wedding weekend everything I had dreamed of—and more. If I could give SWB a million out of five stars, I absolutely would!
My wedding was on March 16, 2025, and originally planned as an outdoor event. The team at SWB was incredibly flexible, allowing me to get creative with the venue and hold the ceremony and dinner in a different location than usual—an accommodation that was impressive in itself!
Just days before the wedding, a storm was predicted to hit. At the last minute, we ordered a tent for the gardens (something that had never been done before), completely reworked the layout we had spent over a year planning, and somehow, everything turned out perfectly!
Adrienne, the event coordinator, and Angel, the food and beverage coordinator, were nothing short of incredible. Adrienne went above and beyond, dedicating extra time and effort to ensure my vision came to life with all of the last-minute changes.
My close family stayed at the Inn and didn’t want to leave! Guests traveled from Canada, New York City, and even Sydney, Australia—and every single one of them raved about their stay. From the friendly and helpful staff to the elegant vintage decor and the delicious food (both at breakfast and the wedding!), they were beyond impressed.
I cannot say enough great things about Sweetwater Branch Inn and the amazing event venue they provide. They do everything with heart, which is so rare these days—and that, above all, meant the world to me and my guests.

Daughters wedding
Our daughter married the love of her life on September 30,2023 at Sweetwater Branch Inn and we could not be happier. From start to finish the venue and accommodations were truly amazing and we are so happy her and her husband found this place to have their special day at. Food was delicious, space was beautiful and the grounds are outstanding. Everything was truly magical and we as parents would highly recommend this venue.

Simply Amazing
Everything about SWB Inn is amazing! The staff was very nice and attentive. The location and venue was absolutely beautiful! I couldn't speak more highly about this venue. My wedding was everything I wanted it to be. The McKenzie garden is stunning in the day and at night. The Victorian architecture and character of the property adds to the whimsical atmosphere. The staff was very kind, quick to serve guests and take away finished dishes. The food was delicious, all the guests loved it! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.

2020 to 2022
We've had TWO weddings with Sweetwater! The team was so accommodating in the weeks leading up to our March 2020 wedding at the beginning of covid. We ultimately ended up postponing our full celebration, but they still let us have an intimate wedding in the gardens.
Fast forward two years - the team made it a breeze to pick-up where we left of for our rescheduled wedding celebrations. Adrienne was a delight to work with (as well as Maria and Casey previously) and the reception went off without a hitch! Everyone was raving about the meal and the venue. The catering staff was super friendly and helpful during the event. Staying on site made set-up a breeze. The Nora-Belle Cottage is a great option for a wedding party to get ready.
My only advice is that if you are planning for your guests to stay on site, check with the lodging office to make sure they haven't booked a special event (booked out more than the year in advance that you can reserve a room) for the date you are looking at. We were surprised to find out that most of the single rooms had been booked for a Rhodes Scholar event during the 2020 planning process. We had guests prepared to book their rooms the exact date that it was 365 days out, but the rooms were already gone, so that was disappointing. But in the grand scheme of things, no complaints here! We are so glad we had our wedding at Sweetwater!

Our wedding at Sweetwater was amazing!
We just had our wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn on 2-11-22 and couldn't have been happier! From the beginning, their event staff have been professional, accommodating, informative, and responsive. They have many different options to work with you at different price points, and they provide a reception coordinator, catering, and linens and basic decor which is nice. The venue is beautiful and I couldn't have been happier with how everything looked on our wedding day. Everything ran smoothly and the food was delicious as well. We also stayed in one of the rooms at the BnB the night before and of our wedding, as did our families and friends coming from out of town. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and all decorated differently. We had so much fun just checking out everyone's different rooms and hanging out on the property. The breakfast was delicious as well. All in all, we had a great experience!

Perfect venue & perfect wedding
My wedding theme was Cottagecore Fairytale and this incredible venue hit the nail on the head! My husband & I got married in the Sweetwater Branch Inn gardens on a gorgeous, clear, and crisp November during sunset. The entire day was magical and I attribute a large amount of that to the knowledgeable, prepared, & courteous Sweetwater staff that worked very hard to ensure that my day was special. My husband and I selected the weekend package which included rehearsal time & dinner on Friday. Wedding on Saturday. Morning after brunch on Sunday with a mimosa bar and an incredible buffet of delectable food!! I cannot say enough about the food. The food was divine! All three days, absolutely incredible food. Every single server was kind and friendly. They all smiled and tried to anticipate needs. The day of the wedding, the lovely wedding coordinator at Sweetwater, Maria, personally found me & mr husband at the reception and brought us a tray of all the foods that were going out. This way we got to mingle AND enjoy the food that we selected. Everything about my wedding was magical. I will definitely be coming back for an anniversary to have another party.
PS I forgot to mention how incredible the honeymoon cottage is! There is a jacuzzi in the room as well as a fire place, kitchen, and bathroom with standing shower. The bed in the honeymoon cottage is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. It is so good I emailed Sweetwater to inquire about the brand & type (and they responded immediately too!).

I had my wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn on 5/30/21 and it was absolutely beautiful! I could not have asked for a better venue to have my wedding at. All of our close family and friends stay on property at Sweetwater for the wedding and everyone kept raving about how beautiful the property was! I had the pleasure of working with the event directors at Sweetwater Branch Inn for over 2 years while planning my wedding. Sweetwater was EXTREMELY understanding and easy to work with when my wedding had to be postponed twice due to covid. They consistently were quick to answer emails, phone calls and give professional advice throughout the postponement and planning process. Sweetwater also provides in-house catering for weddings and the food was absolutely delicious. I had multiple people tell me it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! I would book my wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing wedding experience!

The best wedding venue ever
Sweetwater Branch Inn is the best! The venue itself is so beautiful and the staff do an incredible job to make sure your wedding goes super smoothly. We didn’t have a wedding planner or day of coordinator, and it really wasn’t a problem because Casey, the Event Coordinator at Sweetwater, was there the whole time making sure everything was perfect! I couldn’t imagine a better place to get married and have a reception!! Also, the rooms are adorable and our guests loved being able to stay on site!!

This venue has everything you need for your wedding day. Other than the amazing food which sold me on the venue, the scenery is beautiful, the elegant wedding hall for the reception, and the garden to match it were fantastic. It was perfect for photos to be taken there, a ceremony and reception all in one. There was no need to travel around for all of those things. The coordinators and staff go beyond your expectations to make sure everything is exactly how you envisioned it, I was truly stunned on the day of. I had family reach out to me afterwards telling me how expensive of a wedding it seemed, I didn't tell them otherwise. ;)

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Sweetwater Branch Inn and it was the most perfect day we could have ever asked for! The Sweetwater staff is absolutely incredible, and the event directors, Maria and Casey, made sure our wedding went off without a hitch. The entire planning process was so easy since they take care of the ceremony, reception and the food, which was delicious! Beautiful and Perfect!
Sweetwater Branch Inn was a perfect venue for us. Casey Henshaw and the staff made everything go smoothly and made sure we were always taken care of. They also made all our guests feel safe in the midst of the pandemic. The Sweetwater chef makes incredible food and the rooms were comfortable, clean and historic. Even with Florida afternoon showers when our ceremony was supposed to begin, the staff gladly waited out the rain and hand dried everything to get our ceremony going in perfect time. We couldn't ask for a better experience or better people to work with.

Best Gainesville Venue - Hands Down
I cannot recommend Sweetwater Branch Inn enough! Their prices were the most reasonable of any venue I looked at - and I looked at a lot. Maria was extremely attentive to detail and always on top of things. She really took a lot of pressure and anxiety off of my plate while I was planning. Whenever I needed to update something or needed to change something to better fit our budget, she was there to help. The whole staff at Sweetwater is kind, professional, and attentive. My guests ranted and raved about how perfect our venue and service was, and I couldn't agree more!
One of the benefits of Sweetwater is that you can also stay on site. Their rooms are absolutely lovely. I highly recommend staying in the Honeymoon cottage if you can! We were able to have our whole family stay on site to have an easy yet luxurious wedding weekend. :)

Sweetwater Branch Inn was the best wedding venue I could have ever asked for. The venue itself is stunning both indoors and outdoors. Casey and the team did a brilliant job of organizing the reception and coordinating the day so that the event went smoothly. The staff did great with COVID-19 limitations - all staff wore masks, handled food/beverages for guests, and had sanitizers available as well. When I got to the reception, I did not have to worry about a thing. They have clearly experienced professionals and know how to hold large events. I'm genuinely very happy that I chose SWB for my wedding reception!!!

Magical Intimate Wedding
Casey, Maria, and all of the Sweetwater Branch Inn staff were absolutely incredible every step of the way! We initially planned to have a 80-120 guest wedding set for 2021, but life circumstances led us to having a smaller wedding of 12 people, which Sweetwater not only immediately accommodated, but helped us create something magical we will remember for the rest of our lives. The venue allows for this type of range in guest list, while not skimping on beauty. We look forward to returning to this local treasure for our future honeymoons and picnic dates!

Charming and Elegant Wedding Venue
We chose Sweetwater Branch Inn for our rehearsal dinner and wedding in October. This venue is so charming, elegant, and beautiful for weddings. I can honestly say there is nothing else like it in the Gainesville area. It the first venue we toured and we knew right then that we would end up choosing Sweetwater for our wedding. Casey was our event planner for both our events. She is so professional and helpful with any questions or concerns we had along the way. The wedding planners always respond within a day of emailing. Also, your other vendors who work in the area (DJ’s, photographers, florists, etc.) are familiar with the venue which makes it very easy for them to plan and set up.
We had our rehearsal dinner in the McKenzie House, which is a smaller venue for more intimate events. There are so many unique and beautiful places to take photos. The service was incredible and the food was delicious. We had our wedding ceremony in the garden and our reception was in the McKenzie Hall. Everything was set up perfectly how we wanted and the space was so beautiful. Our guests were so impressed Sweetwater’s unique charm. It is a perfect space for an indoor-outdoor wedding reception. We had people dancing inside, and others chatting and playing yard games outside all night. Thanks to the Sweetwater staff, our wedding turned out so perfectly and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

I will continue to use them over and over...
Sweetwater was everything we imagined. We chose to have our ceremony in their garden area, and would make that decision over and over again. So worth the extra money! Also the hall that goes along with the gardens is beautiful and modern! We plan on staying for a weekend every once in a while, and surprising my grandparents in law for their 50th anniversary to stay their and do the personal chef dinner. You will not regret booking sweetwater!

The wedding of our dreams..
We are over the moon with the venue we chose. The minute we saw the venue for the first time, we knew we would be getting married there. The entire staff at Sweetwater was so kind and supportive from the very beginning. They were flexible, patient, and understanding. They answered a million of my questions without blinking an eye. They were beyond professional and accommodating to all of our needs the day of and the day before. Our family and friends (and us included!) were blown away by how truly beautiful the venue is. Everything looked stunning on the day of the wedding. Alicia and the rest of the staff at SWB were so on top of everything that my husband and I have no idea if anything went wrong! Our family was so impressed with the staff afterwards. Plus- the food is AMAZING! So delicious. We love them!

I loved EVERYTHING about Sweetwater Branch Inn! When you are choosing to have your wedding here, you are choosing more than a BEAUTIFUL garden with twinkle lights and an open, bright banquet hall. You are choosing a staff of responsive, thoughtful, and unbelievably helpful people that are going to make your wedding dreams come true. Any time we had a question they were ready with suggestions to help guide us. They helped us think through every detail in our planning process. And on our special day they helped coordinate everything and make everything beautiful. I was the most stress-free bride because of them. The Sweetwater Branch Inn was everything my fiancé and I needed (and more) in a venue. Before we met with Sweetwater’s team, we had researched and toured several other venues who all gave a quote that was not only way over our budget, but it didn’t include the things that were most important to us. We were presented with random fees and decor regulations that would have prevented us from having the wedding we envisioned, but our first meeting with Sweetwater was a game changer! They listened to us, answered all of our questions and ultimately helped us design our wedding to be the dream that it was. There were no surprises, weird rules, or hidden costs. They helped us make all of our ideas a reality and even made a special cold brew coffee for us to serve to our guests and helped us design a signature speciality coffee bar menu! On the day of, our wedding coordinator, Alicia was there early in the morning to ensure the entire day ran smoothly and it DID! The entire day was insanely beautiful and the food was AMAZING! I would recommend Sweetwater to any couple looking for a venue that will give them the support they need to pull off such a major event. We are so grateful to have found you!

I couldn't have imagined a more perfect reception venue with more perfect people helping us through the entire process. From our initial consult to the wedding day, the Sweetwater team was fantastic. As a detail-oriented planner myself, I really appreciated that they had my back and were just as detail-oriented. As our wedding approached, we began to primarily work with Marjury, who I can't rave about enough. She coordinated everything reception-related for us, was sure we had time to eat and always had everything we needed. She even made sure we had a plate of our cocktail hour foods waiting for us back in our room after the reception. She honestly just felt like one of our awesome friends who constantly had our back. My only regret is that Marjury couldn't fully enjoy our wedding reception, as well. I just wanted her to hang out with us!
I should also mention the food. The menu options are robust and the food is some of the best I've had at a wedding. Everyone complimented us on how great it was, especially the mac and cheese. The bartenders were awesome, too, always making sure we had what we needed as quickly as possible.
The ability to have some of our closest friends and family stay onsite was also great. It was like our own little neighborhood of awesomeness! The morning breakfasts were another great communal time and the breakfasts, included with the B&B stay, were amazingly yummy.
As a same-sex couple, we struggled mightily before the wedding to find reviews of places from other same-sex couples, so I also want to take a moment to say how this fact didn't even faze them one bit. Ever. The Sweetwater team was wonderful from start to finish and I couldn't have imagined a more perfect day, thanks in large part to Marjury and team. From Cornelia, the owner, to Marjury and the rest of the staff, whether Events or the B&B side, everyone was awesome and everything was perfect. I can't recommend them and Sweetwater Branch Inn highly enough.

If in Gainesville area, Sweetwater Inn is top notch. They are right on target, food and service is amazing, wedding planning is perfect, the employees couldn't be more amazing. The Cottages and rooms in the two main B and B are clean and each one is unique. They have cooked to order breakfast daily. Wine and cheese at night. This is a no brainer. BOOK IT.

Sweetwater Branch Inn is HANDS DOWN the greatest wedding venue and I am so thankful that I found them during my planning process. From the moment I stepped foot in the gardens, I knew it was where I wanted to get married. Sarah worked with us to make sure the contract signing was flawless. Shortly there after, I began communicating with Keeley, one of the Events Managers. Her attention to detail is stellar. Not to mention, she's warm and inviting in all of her communications, which eases any Brides mind! Their team put together the most beautiful wedding and reception, I don't think I could have planned it much better myself. They ensure that you have a peace a mind going into your big day, which is something I will forever be grateful for. Thank you for providing me with the most beautiful day of my life! From start to finish SWB was amazing. From answering my endless emails to being there every step of the way the night of my wedding. It was great. Keely did such a phenomenal job. We had our wedding reception here a few weeks ago and this was the best decision! Sweetwater is such a beautiful venue: the reception hall has an intimate and beautiful layout, the gardens are gorgeous, and guests can stay on site making it easy for people to get “home” after the wedding. Everyone at Sweetwater was so helpful throughout the entire planning process and such a pleasure to work with. They answered all of our questions and gave us great advice! They listen to your interests, style and taste and work with you to create your fairytale. They made it such a wonderful and stress free experience. We felt comfortable planning our whole wedding ourselves but didn’t want the added cost of hiring a day of coordinator. And that was fine because Sweetwater has you covered! This was a lifesaver and saved us hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. They even set up several of our items for the reception which was a huge help! All of our guests commented that we chose such a beautiful venue for our reception, and a lot of them stayed at Sweetwater that evening too! Sweetwater set up and planned everything exactly how we discussed and it came out perfect – and all the lighting outside makes it look extra magical. All of our pictures from the day look so dreamy! Such an amazing evening!

Sweetwater Branch Inn is a hidden gem in Gainesville. It is absolutely beautiful and well-manicured throughout the property. Our guests loved it and it photographed beautifully. Lauren and Sarah were a pleasure to work with. They made our wedding planning easier and were very accommodating. They helped us decide all the little details to ensure our wedding vision came to life. During our reception, Lauren came by to check on us after we were served dinner. She wanted to make sure we ate dinner before getting caught up with the busy rest of the night. It was very sweet and thoughtful of her to do that. During dinner, the staff served all of our guests and kept up with drinks. It was very formal and appreciated. It was a little bit more expensive than we originally wanted to spend, but looking back we have ZERO regrets. Sweetwater was a huge part of our wedding day and they exceeded our expectations and made our wedding day and night unforgettable. It was so special! We highly recommend renting rooms for the bridesmaids to get ready in and rooms for the groomsmen to get ready in for the wedding day. It makes the experience so special to get ready in the same beautiful property where you will celebrate your marriage. It makes for wonderful photographs too.

We recently got married at Sweetwater Branch Inn and it was wonderful! Marjury and the event girls were on top of everything, from helping us plan, to taking care of all the tiny details the day of so we didn't have to worry about them. They even made sure we had extra food brought back to our cottage since we hardly ate during the reception (too busy enjoying the night!). Everything ran smoothly and the whole process was as stress free as it could be. Most of our other vendors had worked with Sweetwater in the past and were familiar with the staff and venue, which made things run seamlessly. We had our ceremony at the columns and the pictures look beautiful! All of the staff we met were so accommodating and went out of their way to help us prepare. Our families and friends stayed at the bed and breakfast and they all enjoyed their stay. We would absolutely recommend Sweetwater Branch Inn!

Working with Sweetwater was great. The wedding coordinators Lauren and Marjorie did a great job keeping me low stress and making me feel comfortable that the wedding would go smoothly. In the week leading up to the event, they were available to me and my (now) husband for any questions and concerns we had, and on the day of, Marjorie did a wonderful job of managing the event. The venue is beautiful. We had planned to have the ceremony in front of the colonnade, but rain made us retreat to the covered patio. Even though the ceremony location was changed only 30 minutes before the wedding (Florida is evil), the switch happened seamlessly. The reception in McKenzie hall was beautiful. Having the catering come through Sweetwater made my life much easier. I would absolutely recommend working with Sweetwater Branch Inn for a wedding ceremony/reception!

We held only our reception at the Sweetwater Branch Inn, after a ceremony at the Baughman Center. Our interactions with the Sweetwater began about a year and a half before our event, since we planned to hold our wedding during football season and needed to secure a prime weekend date. The event staff did an excellent job of outlining their capabilities and working with us to create an initial plan within our budget. There is an event minimum price on certain days, and the Sweetwater worked closely with us to make sure we met the amount while getting the maximum value for our money. Due to distance, my now-wife and I needed to coordinate most of the details over the phone and over email, and we found the staff to be easy to work with and very responsive.
In terms of what you can expect: the Sweetwater has an event hall which easily fit our 75-person wedding with a full dance floor and a live band, without feeling cramped. We liked the decor of the room and did not decorate much beyond specifying table decorations. We also held a cocktail hour on the surrounding patio, which again had plenty of space for our guests. The Sweetwater provides in-house catering, which was delicious and plentiful. The bartender was located outside by our choice, but we never had a problem with our guests separating from the main hall (having an actual live band helped). Everything matched our plans exactly, and there were no problems with timing. I should also point out that we had an independent day-of coordinator who worked with Lauren (the main event coordinator at the Sweetwater). Combined, we ended up with an extremely smooth event and have nothing but positive memories from our wedding reception.
In our experience, the Sweetwater Branch Inn is an amazing place to hold your reception, and we would recommend it to everyone!

The Sweetwater Branch Inn is an amazing place to have a wedding. As with any venue, there are a few drawbacks, but they are very minimal. Here are the tips if you are thinking about getting married there:
The bar is outside, which draws a lot of people outside and away from the dancefloor. It was difficult to find everyone since they were so spread out and the DJs mike didn't work outside that well. That being said, it also opened up the inside of the venue, making it not feel crowded and gave our guests other "options" of things to do/places to hang out.
As the married couple, you stay in the honeymoon room. It is beautiful, but it's in the middle of everything (which is super convenient) and when you go inside for your "send off" it is loud outside and a little awkward. It was also weird since there were several other events during the weekend, even though our friends and family had rented out the entire sleep accommodations. But nonetheless, it was a beautiful room and we hardly stayed in it at all.
Other than those two minor details (easily fixed), the venue is absolutely amazing. We worked with the event coordinator Lauren, and she was awesome. Lauren handled everything flawlessly the day of the wedding. It was everything that I had envisioned and all of the details were perfect. She really took the time to right down everything single thing that I wanted on each table and was super accommodating when I needed to change something. The food was also amazing!
It was also great that we had all of our family and friends staying with us onsite. It was a great way to have everyone together and all of the rooms were beautiful. The guests were all very happy. I can't really think of much else to rave about because EVERYTHING was so perfect. I am very detail-oriented and had planned this whole wedding by myself and Lauren and the Sweetwater staff took what I had and made it happen for me. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone and everyone.

Sweetwater Inn is the coolest place to get married. This venue is perfect for the mid sized wedding.
Ceremony: so many options for the bride to setup. We chose the coloumns, since we had a larger guest count. The flowers were blooming in season in May and so that was very nice to walk down the aisle to. There is fake grass, but its so great, bc our guests didnt have to worry about sinking into the ground and ruining their heels. It looks very nice in pictures as the grass is always very green.
Venue: The indoor hall with cocktail bar was great for our out of town guests. It was so nice not to have to drive to a different place from the ceremony. Our guests loved the cocktail hour under the awning while we took our pictures. At night, the strung lights were really romantic and gave the garden a glow which was just awesome. We loved the ponds around the Venue as this was something for the kids to look at when they needed some distraction. The McKenzie Hall was nice and big, with high ceilings and windows above. It really gave an open feeling. Recommend staying at the hotel its so nice and unique. Bfast is so tasty!
Food: We chose to pay extra for the food tasting. It is well worth it. I cannot explain to you how good the food was. We had coconut shrimp, beef wellington, stuffed sausage mushrooms for apps (a crowd pleaser). Entree we chose to do buffet style. Honey Pecan fried chicken was very tasty. We splurged and had the prime rib carving station and that was PHENOMENAL! Our guests did return for seconds and I was told several times through the night and the next day that the food so good.
Staff/Venue Coordinators:
First of all, Thank you Lauren and Sarah, you both are two of the sweetest people to work with. The events directors are very easy to work with, especially with my hectic schedule they were able to fit me into their time. Things went so smoothly from day 1 to wedding day. Other staff ppl were great on day of event.

I did my wedding at Sweetwater last January, and it was amazing! They were so easy to work with and made planning the menu and the venue easy! Any questions I had were answered promptly. On the day of the event, everyone was so professional and helpful, and they made sure it wasn't stressful at all for me. There are too many good things to say about Sweetwater. The ceremony area is beautiful. The reception hall is gorgeous. Every bit of the property is unique and charming. The food that they cater is incredibly delicious. My guests are still raving about their dinners. But on top of all that, you also have Lauren and Sarah who are the most helpful, skilled, and organized event coordinators I have ever met. Leading up to the wedding, I had so many questions and they were so gracious to promptly respond with several good ideas and tips. They communicated with our vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. On the day of the wedding, they coordinated our vendors on where to go and they helped us put up the rest of our decorations. Also, during the wedding, Sarah was around to make sure everything went smoothly. And good thing she was there! Our wedding was going longer than expected and we knew we would need another hour to have plenty of time for dancing. So Sarah coordinated all of our vendors and asked if they could stay for another hour. I never had to worry about a thing! She had it all under control. I cannot imagine having my wedding anywhere else! I know we are going to be talking about how amazing Sweetwater is for years to come.

I worked primarily with Lauren, at SBI. Lauren was so friendly and great to work with during the entire planning process. She helped ease a lot of my anxiety and worry with all the details that go along with a wedding!
Flexibility was important since I no longer live in Gainesville. There was one instance where I met with Sarah & she too was extremely helpful. I just had my wedding here on Sunday May 11th. It was an amazing day! Unfortunately, it was raining about 30 minutes before my ceremony was to take place, so Lauren (the coordinator) suggested switching to inside. That was literally the only disappointing thing the whole day because everyone at sweetwater made my wedding SO perfect. They were able to set up for the indoors ceremony (MacKenzie hall) quickly. Lauren even helped me get into the ceremony by blocking me from view....AND carrying the train of my dress so it wouldn't get wet from the rain! Since we hadn't practiced doing the ceremony this way during the rehearsal, she pretty much acted like a ceremony coordinator (NOT part of her job description) to make sure we all went at the right time.
The food was amazing. They set up the reception beautifully. I literally was in awe when I first saw it. The sweetheart table was stunning! She helped coordinate things with the DJ and the photographer. I can truly say she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect!
Also, considering quality of everything you get with this venue....beautiful gardens, wonderful staff/coordinators, a gorgeous reception hall, delicious food, all the set up, plus the ability to bring your own alcohol.....it was way less expensive than I imagine you can find anywhere else. If anything went wrong with the wedding, I truly did not see it!

We looked all over Gainesville for a venue that would fit our taste AND budget. We looked at the Thomas Center and the Baughman Center on campus, and none came even close to what the Sweetwater had to offer.
First of all, the place is BEAUTIFUL. those gardens are a picture perfect setting for a wedding, and the McKenzie hall is so open and lets in lots of light which makes for good photographs. I also love that its relatively simple in its decor and architecture because it's like a blank canvas on which couples can create their vision. Ours was a vintage, quirky, and whimsical- Kind of like a wedding you'd see in a Wes Anderson movie. Lauren and the staff where so helpful and supportive of our vision. They let us put up bunting flags and hang homemade signs above the bar. It all turned out beautifully.
Secondly, do not underestimate the power of CONVENIENCE. I didn't realize how lucky we were to have the ceremony & the reception in the same place until the day of. I was also so please with many of our guests and ourselves staying at the Sweetwater Branch Inn (with a 15% discount!) No running around from one place to the next, no wondering whether people would find the reception venue, and no guests having to worry about a designated driver! All they had to do was stroll through the gardens and make their way up to their rooms after a night of drinking and dancing! We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful Honeymoon cottage, and it was so sweet to be greeted by our family and friends over breakfast the next day and gush about the previous night's festivities.
Third and most importantly, we were so pleased with Lauren and the Sweetwater staff's professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to work with us and answer all our questions. Our guests were extremely satisfied with the custom Southern/Ecuadorian Menu (which the chef helped us create!) and drinks and we continue to receive compliments on our big day. Thank you Sweetwater Branch Inn!

I would recommend anyone to use this venue for their wedding!!! It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lauren and Sarah and all of the other event staff at Sweetwater Branch Inn. From the first meeting, to the final details meeting, to helping manage my stress on the day of the event, everything was smooth and we felt extremely well taken care of. All of my family and friends who attended the wedding couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the venue was, and all of our guests who stayed at the Inn raved about the service they received. Oh, and the breakfast is AMAZING! Let's be honest, all of the food is fantastic. I really do not have a complaint about this place. I have nothing but positive things to say about Lauren and the Sweetwater Team. Our wedding was flawless and every detail was thought of ahead of time. Lauren was quick to respond to my emails and answered all of the last minute questions I had quickly. It was so nice knowing that the team was in control of everything. The food was amazing and our guests still tell me two years later how delicious our dinner was. I'm happy that we chose Sweetwater and would recommend them to anyone.

Sweetwater Branch Inn is beautiful! They were such a joy to work with, helping to walk me through every step of planning my wedding. We got married in the gardens (which are gorgeous) and had the reception there as well. I loved that they provided everything (tables, linens, cutlery, food, etc) so I did not have to worry about coordinating with other vendors. They worked with us to create a great menu that fit within our budget, and everything was delicious! We stayed that night in the Honeymoon Suite which was beautiful and the breakfast in the morning was to die for. Highly recommend!

This is the most amazing place to have a wedding... EVER! From the outside you would not know that nestled back behind two Victorian homes is a beautiful and lush garden, amazing staff and delicious food! Working with Lauren, and the rest of the staff was a blast and they made sure everything went off without a hitch! I couldn't be happier, they made my wedding day a fairytale come true! When Jimmy and I renew our vows 10 years from now, we will be back!! Oh and of course we will be back for our one year anniversary.

Luxurious. So beautiful out there. Very accommodating and helpful and understanding. We had our ceremony at the Baughman Center, and our reception here. Really I couldn't have pictured a more beautiful set-up. The family and friends from Maryland got to see the best of what Florida can offer. And the staff was great, too!

Great place to work with for your wedding. They are so flexible and basically let you do what you want with their space (with reasonable limits of course)! Beautiful place so don't have to worry too much about all the decorations. Really enjoyed my experience!

My wedding couldn't have been more BEAUTIFUL! And, it couldn't have been more challenging.... We got married on steamy summer evening in July, and the weather shifted at the last minute. Sweetwater staff helped me make the very difficult decision to move the ceremony from the garden to inside the hall. They responded quickly and professionally and the ceremony flowed as if it was supposed to be inside! I was so glad and HAPPY it was moved! Inside was cool and mosquito-free and intimate and elegant. I felt like a QUEEN! Many guests commented on how lovely it was. Also, the AC had been broken that day and the room was slow to cool, so the wedding cake that my mom made started to melt and fall when it was delivered two hours before the ceremony. The owner Cornelia and her staff Lauren and the Intern along with the Florist, Joan Prange, kicked into action and team-worked and problem-solved to save the cake!! And, they protected me, the bride, from the drama of it alll while I did photos! They are SO awesome in dealing with the many surprises and dynamics a wedding can bring...Oh, and compliments to the Chef! We had a DELICIOUS meal and a fabulous time!!! Finally, our family stayed at the Inn. The rooms were so nice and breakfast was to die for! We stayed at the honeymoon suite and it was just PERFECT! I can't say enough about how happy we were with Sweetwater. I highly recommend them. THANK YOU! :-)

The garden is so beautiful, and the people are so friendly. We got many comments from our guests saying "it was the best wedding they had ever been to", and we thought so too! Lauren, Katie and the ladies at the Sweetwater were absolutely wonderful! They were always available for questions and they allowed me to set up the columns to be the first bride to have curtains- something they didn't have to do, but allowed my mom and I to set it up and do what we needed to the pillars to have the curtains! It was so very nice of them, and it made everything go so smoothly! We drove up and the men working moved things for us to set up the ladder and drill for the screws.
On the night of, we had gotten torches for the garden and they went unlit,and flowers weren't moved- but in the grand scheme of things it was no big deal at ALL! Katie was so busy preparing the hall and getting things set up (not to mention helping me get my plate of food and telling guests where to go and when to go), that it was no biggie! Everyone raved about the WONDERFUL food and how beautiful the garden was and the ceremony was (and that I got to have my curtains :D).
Overall, my experience was amazing and I would do the ceremony and reception there again without question. The ladies there are just wonderful and sweet and I couldn't imagine a better experience!! They are the BEST choice in Gainesville and the surrounding area! I'm from Tampa, and the drive there was MORE than worth the experience. I can't wait to go back for my anniversary and re-live the wedding!
I can't express enough how much I loved everything! For the bride on a budget and even if you aren't- you get more bang for your buc at Sweetwater! We had a small budget and it was perfect fit and I got EVERYTHING I wanted and needed! Thank you ladies!

My daughter found Sweetwater Branch Inn in a magazine, and we were enthralled from the minute we saw it...it is a beautiful setting, and we used the Colonade setting. We reserved blocks of rooms, and although there are not hundreds of rooms, we arranged it so that the immediate family and the wedding party would be onsite, and it worked perfectly. I stayed in the Isadora room, and it was perfect, as we used the sitting room, which is in a turret like space with great lighting from all angles, for the makeup area. It was beautiful and romantic, and the perfect setting. The reception was beautifully catered, and Katie and Lauren made it very easy, as did the staff and bartenders. Brittany, at the front desk is great, as is the other lady (I\'m so sorry - her name escapes me) that does the cooking for the complementary full breakfast. It was a wonderful experience, and the cost was extremely reasonable.

Trust the people you met. They know the menu, and there is not one thing on their fresh and gourmet menu that's 1) not the most delicious food you've eaten; 2) worth whatever the cost is.
Four months after our wedding, and I am still getting compliments on how wonderful the set-up was, how delicious the food was, etc. I love all the people at Sweetwater--they really made everything come together without any stress or anxiety on my part, and that insured that the groom, our families, all our guests, and I could just celebrate the joining of our families--which after all, is what a wedding SHOULD be, isn't it?

The service my husband and I received throughout the entire wedding planning process – from our first meeting to the time we left for our honeymoon – was incredible. Cornelia, Lauren and the entire Sweetwater team went way above and far beyond to ensure every detail was considered for our Sunday morning brunch wedding.
In addition to the supreme service and beautiful setting, Sweetwater created a delicious breakfast spread that my guests are still raving about (and all at a shockingly reasonable price). From the rich hot chocolate and made-to-order omelets to the homemade breads and french toast casserole, every menu item was unique and freshly prepared.
We truly cannot say enough kind things about Sweetwater. As a working bride who could not afford a wedding planner, I can honestly say that I don't think our wedding would have been nearly as successful had we chosen a venue that didn't care so much about helping us achieve our vision.

We stayed here on our wedding night in the Honeymoon cottage. It was very romantic and was nice to have our own small home to stay in for the night. There was a fireplace with a Jacuzzi tub! Breakfast was delicious and they packed us a lunch for the road! I can't wait to stay here again! I would recommend this inn to anyone who wants to stay in a cozy place for any occasion!

We had our reception and catering done at/by the Sweetwater Branch Inn. They were easy to deal with, friendly, and the venue is amazing. They worked with us to create the exact look we were going for, and made sure everything was perfect for our reception. Also, the catering was amazing. We were able to look through their food options, pick the food we were interested in, and meet with the head of catering to perfect the menu. Everything was delicious! We had a lot of people come to us and say they had never had such good food at a wedding reception (neither had we!). So great. We also stayed in the honeymoon suite that night (super cute and convenient), where we had a silver tray with some of our appetizers and a couple slices of cake waiting for us. Perfect!

This place was an AMAZING location for our wedding! Everything was perfect. The food was too die for, the service was great and the venue was beautiful. We even stayed in their "honeymoon cottage" for the night of our wedding and the next night. The gardens were beautifully kept and the lighting with the string lights and small fires were a beautiful touch. We had to plan our wedding very last minute because my husband was getting ready to go to Iraq and so our date was pushed up and Cornilia was very helpful and open to us being so rushed. From the very first day we stepped foot at this location we were blown away! Things ran smoothly, from the day we checked it out to the end of our wedding day. Lauren and Sarah responded within days to any and all questions we had. They were very understanding and gave us their opinion on things that we were unsure off. Although at first it might seem like this venue is a bit pricey, but trust me. It's so worth it!! From the beginning to the end of our wedding day, the staff at Sweetwater allowed us to actually enjoy our wedding and not have to worry about the little things. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing, and it was all because of the wonderful staff at Sweetwater Branch Inn!!

The first moment I stepped onto SWB's property, I knew I had to have my reception there. The grounds are gorgeous, and the garden lighting left me breathless. Sarah and Lauren were great to work with, even though I always had questions and concerns, they were able to address them and they were so nice. Everyone loved the food, and they loved being able to wander around outside when they wanted to take a break from all the dancing inside. I've got some gorgeous photographs now that we took around their site, and I am just so glad I went with my gut instinct and chose SWB as my reception location! We spent our wedding night in one of their cottages, and that was lovely as well :)

We absolutely loved working with Sweetwater Branch Inn to host our wedding reception! They were kind, helpful, clear, thorough, and attentive throughout the entire planning process. We emailed them lots of random questions that they answered right away. Our coordinator for the venue, Adrienne Phillips, (and the entire Events Team) were exceptional and provided a beautiful space/atmosphere for our reception. Perfect for small outdoor ceremony!
We were looking for a small venue to hold an outdoor ceremony during COVID times and this place was more than perfect. Prices were reasonable given that Sweetwater did EVERYTHING for us. They took care of decorations, set up, catering, and take down of everything. The only thing we had to worry about were our photographer, alcohol, wedding cake, and small additional decorations we brought in ourselves. Could not have been more happy with how our consultant at Sweetwater let us personalize everything to our tastes to make for one of the most memorable days of our lives. Our family who stayed on premises were also ecstatic with their accommodations as well. Thank you Sweetwater!

A Magical Memorable Venue

We were an out-of-town couple coming back to our college town to get married, and Sweetwater was a great choice because they truly know how to execute a beautiful wedding flawlessly. The flow between the garden, cocktail area, and reception hall was fantastic, and it allowed people to move about freely the whole evening. Catering is provided through the venue, which may be a drawback for someone who wants to bring in their own. For us, it was a positive, and their menu is extensive. We scheduled an in-person tasting, and the food on the day-of was even better. We enjoyed all of the different rentals they offered - it really made bringing a personal touch to the event easy. It isn't the cheapest venue in Gainesville, but there's a reason this place is so highly rated. They have a wedding here every weekend, and they're nothing short of experts by now - for us, it was worth every penny!

I absolutely ADORED everything about Sweetwater, from the staff to garden, to the food to the lodging. I was blown away with how wonderful you all worked to make our wedding beautiful, well organized and special. The few problems we ran into, Lauren immediately jumped to acting and fixed them. (We were missing a BM bouquet, and my zipper popped off during the reception) Everything was so exceptional I'm very VERY thankful and happy we went with you guys! I have recommended you to anyone who will listen, lol! Thank you again for everything! Even the smallest detail of food in the Honeymoon cottage was appreciated! (Especially since we didn't get to eat until then, lol)

We recentally had our reception here. It was magical and well beyond my expectations! I choose this location because of it's historical charm and lush gardens. My bridesmaids and I stayed in Nora Belles cottage which was plenty big! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and had plenty of space for us all to get ready. The guys showed up a little later and got ready in Victoria's cottage across the street. All of my family members and friends who stayed raved about the rooms and the accommodations. As for the reception itself, my coordinator Marjury and here team were awesome! Not only the night of, but all of the answered emails leading up to. She had everything set up just how I invisioned it. She made sure my husband and I got a plate and ate first, and she was there to see everything through! Overall a perfect night. Like any other venue the costs can add up quick when you start doing add ons. I.e chargers, colored table clothes, lawn games, served champagne service, etc. So expect to pay more than you originally budget for!

Sweetwater Branch Inn is absolutely fantastic! We had our wedding reception here. Marjury was our day-of coordinator, but we had interactions with Sarah and Lauren along the way. Anytime I had a question they answered it promptly and thoroughly. Every detail was taken care of during our reception. The catering staff were excellent and attentive. I didn't have to worry about anything during the reception, because the event staff had everything taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious. Numerous friends and family members told us that this was one of the most beautiful venues they had ever seen. Another plus is that you can stay on site. I stayed in the Carriage House the night before my wedding and got ready there the day of. There was plenty of room for my entire bridal party to get ready. It was unique and much prettier than a traditional hotel room. The ONLY reason my review is not 5 stars is because of a mishap with the inn staff, not the event staff. My husband and I stayed on property in the Honeymoon Cottage the night of our reception, and the inn staff gave our cottage key to a stranger. On top of that, the sliding interior lock did not work in our cottage, so this stranger had access to our room. The key still hasn't turned up. It was an uncomfortable and stressful way to spend our wedding night and all we received was an apology in an email. The solution was to change the locks a week after the wedding, and to suggest that they would see us on our anniversary for another stay. I was not impressed with the customer service experience of this situation and did not feel reassured. I will not be back for another stay because of how poorly this was handled. Overall, I would highly recommend SWB as an event space, but you should be very clear about who can pick up your keys if you plan to stay on site!

Sweetwater was great, but unflexable with many things. Two days before my wedding they they tried to make me end my reception earlier than I intended. They are a bed and breakfast and are very concerned with the B&B guests even if that means you have to compromise your wedding

Romantic and a gem in Gainesville
Sweetwater Branch is a popular venue for weddings and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw the place. My groom and I loved the gardens and the romantic feel of this venue. We had many guests travel from out of state for our special day and the Inn was a perfect location for guests to stay at the location. We highly recommend this venue. The food with Sweetwater catering was absolutely delicious too. We loved the romantic feel and the convenience for guests the most!

Beautiful Venue
Although we didn’t choose Sweetwater Branch for our wedding venue, i want to say the staff was super helpful and nice. The venue is absolutely beautiful and has a great outdoor space. If you are considering this venue it is definitely worth the visit.

We had a wonderful experience at this location. Just remember only a limited number of rooms are available for guests...most of your wedding will need to stay elsewhere.
