In 1903, a plumber by the name of George Turner, Sr. purchased the six acres that would become a world-famous botanical attraction. Three generations of the Turner family continued the vision that created this unique tropical garden, with its flowing ponds. Rooted in a 100-year history, Sunken Gardens was designated a Local Historic Landmark in 1998. The City of St. Petersburg purchased Sunken Gardens in 1999 with the goal to preserve the historic botanical garden and provide cultural and educational opportunities.

Sarah and team were very responsive and quick. The location could not be any better and even though the rain put a damper on having cocktail hour outside in the Oak Garden, the accommodated us inside the location and still made it look beautiful. The Garden Room for the reception was absolutely stunning with the large windows and wood floors. I love the fact that as simple as it looks, it still makes it feel elegant. All our guests loved the location!Sent on 06/13/2016

It was absolutely beautiful the day of our wedding! We held our ceremony on the North Lawn. The staff made it go flawlessly. I'm so glad I had their help to coordinate our flower delivery and violinist, I would not have had time to do everything myself! They had everything set right on time, but were flexible if we needed a few extra minutes. Overall they were very helpful and we loved the gardens!Sent on 03/19/2019

Our wedding couldn't have gone more perfect! This was a beautiful venue for a wedding. The pictures after the ceremony turned out fabulous. The park was open to visitors, but never felt packed or uncomfortable taking pictures.Sent on 02/20/2019
