About
The Crocker Memorial Church was bulit in 1901 and has been in continuous use ever since. This charming little white church is a marvel of adaptive use. It has been moved three times and has now come to rest in Pioneer Park, the home of the Historical Society of Sarasota County.
The Crocker Memorial Church sits next to the Bidwell-Wood House, built in 1882. Both the spacious front and back porches of this home are welcome gathering places for your wedding party and guests. Photography is permitted at both locations as well as on the grounds. There is a sound system in the church.
The Crocker Memorial Church was offically decommissioned in 2004 and today embraces all denominations for religious or secular wedding services. The building can accommodate approximately 100. The white-painted pine pews are original and some of them were hand hewn by Peter Crocker, one of Sarasota's early civic leaders. As part of your customized wedding festivities, your guests can choose to tour both historic structures. The Historical Society provides docents and you provide the memories of a lifetime.
