About The West Events

The West Events is an industrial-chic venue in Treasure Island, Florida that is surrounded by old Florida charm. The building embraces its past while looking towards the future, offering up a clean and modern feel to any event. Nestled in Madeira Beach, The West Events provides a fantastic location for any couple seeking a beachy feel in an established neighborhood. The soul of the area shines through in the architectural elements scattered throughout the venue, delivering a grand atmosphere that both you and your guests are sure to appreciate. White sandy beaches are only steps from The West Events, providing a fantastic opportunity for a stroll by the water.

Facilities and Capacity

The West Events boasts raw brick walls and glistening concrete floors. The entire venue is a blank canvas for your design, enabling you to curate any theme you wish. The floor plan is open and airy, allowing spaces to be both large and small. Whether your celebration is intimate or grandiose, The West Events is able to accommodate a space for your needs. There is a capacity of 250 for standing events and 150 for seated occasions. In addition to the inside areas that are available, there is also an outdoor courtyard that consists of 1800 square feet. This garden space is included in the rental of the Blue Ribbon Room. For smaller gathers, consider booking The West Wing for groups as small as 10 up to 75.

Services Offered

The West Events provides a variety of useful services and items that include décor and bar solutions. There is a prep kitchen on site with plenty of modern amenities. During your event, both an event manager and an onsite manager are there to ensure that the day goes as smoothly as possible. Both cleanup and setup are included, and couples are welcome to bring their own vendors.

Location

The West Events is located just outside of Saint Petersburg, Florida. The venue is reached on coastal route 699 and there are plenty of accommodation sites around the venue. Additional excursion and entertainment sites are within a stone's throw, allowing your event to be as varied as you may desire.

    Amazing venue

    I loved and I’m obsessed with The west events!! I would literally host every event there of I could lol. But on a more serious note my wedding came out better than I could’ve ever imagined. The venue has a beautiful location, I love the rustic environment and all the free space provided. The Powder room is so cozy and cute I felt like it was a home away from home. The bar area felt very sophisticated with a gorgeous view of the outside area and the bright green grass. Both rooms where the ceremony and the reception were held were spacious with a beautiful wooden wall. I love absolutely everything about this place I could go on and on forever.

    Absolutely perfect

    We are so lucky to have found The West Events for our elopement this past December. It was just the two of us, and we planned our wedding in 3 weeks- somehow stress free! Diana made planning our ceremony so simple- and with just a few questions she put together a ceremony that was exactly what we wanted and what we had imagined for our big day. It was so perfect and special. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and is right across the street from the beach- beautiful photos at both!

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Laurie Davidson-Smith, a former SEC Championship pitcher for The University of Georgia, was not scared of a challenge. Alongside her business partner, Michele Smith, a 2x Olympic gold-medalist softball pitcher and ESPN analyst, revitalizing historic buildings is a passion. Their first large project was to restore a ramshackle relic of Old Florida into what is now the Sunset Inn and Cottages, which consistently ranks as TripAdvisor’s #1 hotel in Treasure Island. Most recently, when they spotted a long-vacated, run-down laundromat, their newest project was born: The West Events, the area’s newest event venue. Michele and Laurie preserved the structural integrity and industrial soul of this mid-century building. Exposed brick, wooden accent walls, polished concrete floors, and industrial lighting create the perfect backdrop for any occasion, from wedding receptions to corporate events. They can't wait to host you!

Plan, Execute and Turning Moments into Memories!

It’s no surprise that Diana Homan ended up in the hospitality business. She grew up helping her mother at a young age with social parties and country club functions in Cincinnati, Ohio. Diana has always been drawn to planning and hospitality, with the end game of a happy outcome for her friends, family and clients.

Diana honed her skills at UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality where she was able to combine her practical knowledge with the academics of hospitality management and marketing as she produced several UCF campus events. She also expanded her experience in Off-Premise Catering, Restaurants and Hotel Management.

Her career journey started with Levy Restaurants at Raymond James Stadium with the aspiration to work a Super Bowl event, which just so happened to be Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa in 2009. As an avid football fan, it was a dream come true for Diana who remembers fondly how it brought the community together. Excelling in her career with other major sporting events across the country; NASCAR, PGA Championships, NBA Finals, US OPEN, USTA, US OPEN, 2012 Republican National Convention and opened Topgolf Tampa in 2014. To take it a step further, creating a well-rounded variety of experience, she has worked with a multitude of restaurants, hotels, bars and event venues in the Tampa Bay market.

No event is too big or small for DK Event Planning. The company serves the Tampa Bay area of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties and expanded in Sarasota, Bradenton & Naples.
Diana’s specialty is training and developing industry talent. She’s relationship driven and if you’re a busy restaurateur and need support with your event development, marketing and staff, Homan is a perfect fit!

Michele Smith

Michele Smith: Olympic Gold Medalist and ESPN Softball Analyst
Michele Smith is a Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist and ESPN’s lead softball analyst. She was the first ever female analyst to call a nationally televised MLB game for TBS when the LA Dodgers played the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta in 2012. Michele also served as a color commentator for NBC during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.


Michele played in softball’s debut Olympic appearance in 1996 in Atlanta, GA and again in 2000 in Sydney, Australia winning gold medals in both Olympic Games. She is a three-time world champion for Team USA and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in 2006. Michele played in the Japan Professional Softball League for 16 years and is an eight-time Japan League Champion and eight-time Japan League Most Valuable Player, leading the Japan League numerous years in both earned run and batting average.
During Michele’s NCAA career, she was a left-handed pitcher and powerful offensive threat. She is a two- time All American at Oklahoma State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science.

Fun Facts About Michele: - After living 16 years in Japan, Michele is fluent in Japanese!- Michele has struck out many NFL, MLB, NBA players!
