We had Steve Holman on the guitar and Joy Pritz on the violin from Summit Strings to play for our wedding ceremony prelude, the ceremony itself, and the cocktail hour. They provided amplification which worked nicely. They were also very accommodating to our song requests. I even had a specific song they hadn’t done before for the groom to walk out to, and they found the sheet music for it and did wonderfully playing it without a hitch. I, of course being the bride, didn’t get to hear any of the prelude, but the music I did hear was beautiful and, granted I wasn’t listening for any, I never heard any hiccups. Everything was so smooth and made for the perfect, elegant background music during cocktail hour. They are quite versatile with the ability to play more traditional songs as well as more modern songs. If I ever had questions throughout the planning process, I could just text or email Steve and he got back promptly each time. They both were very friendly once I finally got to meet them in person, as well! Overall, a great experience and all for a very reasonable price! Highly recommend!

We loved having Summit Strings play for our ceremony! Their playing was beautiful and many of our guests commented on how lovely the music was. My husband and I reached out to Summit Strings to play at our wedding day in May 2025, and I am so glad that we did! The music for the ceremony was absolutely beautiful! There was a major windstorm the day of our wedding, but Steve and the other musicians improvised and made it work to play for our outdoor ceremony. Looking back and watching our wedding video, everything sounded so beautiful. And they were even willing to learn a new piece for our wedding that I requested as a surprise for my husband shortly before our wedding day. As the chief organizer for my College group’s 50th anniversary reunion gathering in Blowing Rock, NC *and environs*, I pushed to have live music for our two more formal dinners in the area. My decision quickly put me in touch with Steve Holman and the Summit Strings.

The price was right for my folks to contract for a violin with cello for the first night’s dinner at an Italian restaurant; and, a fiddle with guitar for our final night’s dinner at a traditional home style restaurant.

While I left the general theme of the two restaurants determine the song list played, there were also some requests that were easily fulfilled based on a quick glance at internet scores. The volume and acoustics at both locations was perfect. All 35 or so of our celebrating guests were delighted by our choice to have a musical accompaniment at our two dinners.

I highly recommend Steve Holman and the Summit Strings if you want to lend a very high degree of classy musical entertainment to your similar event in the Western NC area that they cover. Steve and Joy were exceptionally talented, unobtrusive, and hit the sweet spot on pricing.

We had such a wonderful experience with Steve & Summit Strings! They played for our pre-ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour, and truly elevated the atmosphere of our entire day. Not only are they incredibly talented musicians, but they were also so easy to work with from start to finish. Steve was very easy to communicate with.

Despite the last-minute request and the distance he had to travel, he willingly accepted and went above and beyond to make the day unforgettable. It's worth mentioning that he even played in chilly 54-degree weather without hesitation.
