Facilities and Capacity
This venue is delighted to offer you eight distinct event spaces and exclusive access to the museum for your big day. On the first floor of the building, the Presidential Reception Suite is the most formal and intimate area available for wedding celebrations. There, you and up to 80 people can celebrate inside a space that has hosted past presidents and cabinet members. Located in the Innovation Wing of the museum, The Wallace H. Coulter Performance Plaza can accommodate up to 500 guests. With a demonstration kitchen and built-in stage, this room is ideal for your wedding meal and entertainment. At the entrance of the Star-Spangled Banner Gallery, Flag Hall provides viewings of the flag that inspired the National Anthem. With a capacity of over 500 people, you and your loved ones can enjoy a catered meal followed by an evening of dancing. Showcasing one of the museum’s most famous objects, The Wallace H. Coulter Unity Square will steep you and your guests in civil rights history. There, you and your guests can admire the lunch counter from Woolworth’s store in North Carolina that started the sit-in movement in the 1960s. This space also opens up into an outdoor terrace with sweeping views of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. If you desire a rooftop wedding, the building’s Rooftop Terrace offers panoramic views of the city and can accommodate up to 350 guests.
