About

"The cure for anything is saltwater... sweat, tears, or the sea..." ~Karen Blixen (as Isak Dineson)

As a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®* l work with clients to create joyful weddings and uplifting memorial services. In addition, I am here to help mark other milestones throughout life—home blessing, baby naming, new business, coming of age, retirement, and more—with heartfelt ceremonies.

The Celtic Pagan traditions of my Irish ancestors especially inspire my reverence for sacred, earth-based ceremony, and the ocean inspires my love for nature, its elements, and its creatures.

The hallmark of a Celebrant ceremony is complete customization, no templates with names and dates filled in. Whether love story for a wedding or life story for a memorial, my background as writer and storyteller will inform the process of weaving words as we collaborate to create your unique ceremony.

I am an initiated priestess with the Rosa Mandala Collective of El Cerrito, California, undergoing the traditional year-and-a-day priestess training with eclectic and varied spiritual influences. I also serve as a lay leader in my congregation, the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara.

I am proud to serve those of all orientations and backgrounds, including the LGBTQ community. Always customized just for you--it's your ceremony your way.

*Life-Cycle Celebrants® are professionally trained Ceremony Specialists who believe in the power and effectiveness of ceremony and ritual to celebrate life’s milestone events. We collaborate with our clients to create and perform personalized ceremonies that reflect their beliefs, philosophies of life, and personalities.

Warm, kind, professional, and unique wedding officiant!

Justine did such an excellent job officiating our wedding. We were looking for someone who was both comfortable using gender neutral language and felt right for our ceremony and she was incredible through the process of developing our script.

My wife and I are not particularly religious or traditional, so we had no guidelines of what our ceremony would look like before. Justine was responsive and collaborative in working to develop a ceremony to be uniquely ours. With a mix of sea glass wishes, Pablo Neruda poetry, personally written vows, and a special saltwater surprise - our ceremony was one of a kind and memorable.

Even more memorable was the fact that we got married outside on a rainy day. Justine was such a trooper about continuing through the ceremony with no issue or complaint. Our guests could not stop singing her praises, and I know her specific energy and hard work made the day exactly as we could have hoped!

Warm and Meaningful

Justine officiated a modern pagan portion of our otherwise mostly Jewish wedding ceremony. She did so in a way that had our 125 guests participating comfortably and meaningfully in something that was new to most of them.

I have been fortunate to participate in many events Justine has officiated and/or led over the years before and after our wedding. Her heartfelt way of speaking, with her warm sense of humor, has a way of putting people at ease. Her insightful use of language and group participation connects people to what is meaningful. I recommend her highly to help people begin their marriages with love, joy, and inspiration.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
