Beth Austin and her two children, Reeve and Kylemore (Kylee) Austin have lived on this property since 2002. Beth grew up in the small town of Kenduskeag, Maine, just outside of Bangor. She attended college at the University of Maine in Farmington. After college she taught special education in juvenile corrections centers for 10 years before becoming a stay at home mom. Since becoming a widow unexpectedly in 2011, she has been working on turning their family hobby-farm into an events center where she can share her beautiful estate with others as they host their business function or celebrate their special day.
As the proprietor and family matriarch, Beth’s creative ideas and inspiration drove the expansion of the Farm to an events venue, destination wedding, and country lodging house. She loves sharing her family’s estate with others, and hopes to continue to host guests and riders for years to come.
Gina's many years of hospitality and dining services management, along with her lengthy experience in event management, make her a perfect fit to oversee our events at River Winds. She has been in the hospitality industry her whole life, working in small family-owned restaurants, as well as large brand hotels. She has also managed a healthcare dining service within a care facility. Gina has a AAS in Culinary Arts and Dietetics. As an entertainment establishment owner and events coordinator, she has managed numerous functions including weddings, corporate events, family functions and public band shows. Gina knows how to plan for dining and beverage needs at events, and ensure any crowd is entertained and comfortable.
Gina was born in Everett Mass, a suburb of Boston. She moved to Old Orchard Beach, Maine in 1990, with son Dustin and daughter Ariane. She met and married her husband Johnny "Jam" Martinez there, and they owned a popular nightclub and specialty wine and beer shop in Old Orchard Beach's downtown for 13 years. Gina loves to travel and her favorite destination is the Mayan Riviera.
Kylee joined her mother, Beth, in the family business as a teenager. As an avid horsewoman, she currently manages the Horse Arena and boarding services at River Winds. She has been working on the marketing of the farm events and other activities, giving tours to prospective clients and brides, and managing the social media and online marketing.
Having recently graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a BS in Business, Entrepreneurship & Marketing, she is looking forward to bringing her formal education knowledge to the family business for hands-on application. Her mother refers to her as the “owner in training”.
Kylee was a standout volleyball player, coaching in her off season, and a two-time recipient of the William B. Wise scholar athlete award for achievement in the classroom, as well as on the court. Her love for horses and competition has taken her across the Northeast and to Pennsylvania, where she competed in Team Penning and Sorting, winning a youth title at age 17.
Kylee plans to continue to grow the Farm through private events, group offerings, and digital marketing efforts. She also manages the horse boarding and arena areas of the farm.
