Helpful and Affordable

This was the most affordable venue we found, and the quality was not lacking! They were very helpful and supportive but also willing to allow us to handle things by ourselves at the venue. The banquet room is gorgeous too!

Risk is too high for anything important

I suppose I’ll start this review off by saying that I gave Redmond Ridge Community Center every chance to make things right. We had our wedding here and originally booked the 5pm-Midnight slot for the entire facility and the sound system which we didn’t use. We figured an extra hour would be great for our timing both with set up and photography so we asked about that and they have a strict 2 hour minimum that you must book at $175 an hour, no exceptions. The other reason that we booked the time is because it would be less likely that they would book an event to use the facility prior to our wedding.
Pros:
The main reason we booked this facility was because we wanted an outdoor wedding venue if possible. This venue had the space and a nice little playground for the kids along with room for outdoor games like giant jenga and corn hole. That’s the positive of this place so as long as nothing goes wrong you’ll be fine.
Cons:
At 9pm the sprinklers came on which were not supposed to come on until after Midnight. This damage our outdoor games, got our guests wet and ultimately forced us to stop what was going on to get everything to safety. It put a damper on the evening and cut the timing of the wedding short. It’s not the end of the world but it did suck to have it happen. The way they handled and responded to this issue is a serious issue and something that I would advise everyone to never book your event here. We emailed the manager Amber (Office Manager) after the event and explained what happened. Her response as a direct quote “I am so sorry about the sprinklers! They were supposed to have been changed to 12am on the weekends! Thank you for letting me know!” She also apologized for giving us bad information about the length of ladder needed to reach the beams to hang lights from which was very frustrating since she insisted on it multiple times. I responded back to the email and called Amber to explain this was not an acceptable way to respond to something like this and she said I would need to talk with the board of directors and that because of their board election it would take at least a week. Finally, I get an email from Sandy Cobb (Association Director) saying she received the prior emails and was brought up to speed on the problem and in short simply asked what we want. I responded back asking what they think would be a fair response to the problem. Sandy responded by saying it is impossible to put a value on the items that were damaged and what could we do to make things right. After thinking about it and their strict policies earlier in our conversation I figured with losing several hours and taking damage to our property that half would be fair. Sandy responded back in a very corporate way that seemed like I would be filing a claim with an insurance company. She mentioned they are a “small venue run by a non-profit organization” and "Since you are requesting a 50% refund of your full rental fee, the ROA’s Board will need to review your request and make a decision. If you would like to have the Board review your request, please provide a written request for a refund by November 15th, and let me know if you plan on attending in person, so that I can make time for you on the agenda. In your written request, please include the costs of the items you are claiming were damaged and pictures of the damage by November 15th, for the Board’s review. In addition, if you would like to add any additional information, you are welcome to do so. All email correspondence will also be included for the Board’s review.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th, at 6:30 pm, and is held in the ROA Office, which is located at 10735 Cedar Park Crescent NE, Redmond.

If you have further questions, please let me know.”

Wow, I thought that after talking with the manager and being forwarded to the Association Director that I would have given a “written request”. I decided to respond back and ask for just a 3 hour refund which is the time we lost so that it would be a simple request. I received our final email: “Because we are a small non-profit, there are only certain liberties that I can take when reviewing requests such as yours.
If you were asking for replacement of your games and provided receipts for them, depending on the cost, I might be able to accommodate that request because I can easily explain it and provide documentation of the costs and damaged items. Unfortunately, I cannot explain refunding half of your rental fee or 3 hours, especially since they were for the last 3 hours of your event and some of that time would have been needed for cleaning and removal of your items.”

At this point I figured it’s time to throw in the towel and give up. I don’t want to spend any more time on this and it only seems to be getting more complicated and formal, especially for a small run non-profit. However, she wasn’t wrong that some time would be needed to clean up, and there is also time to set-up. Our wedding was planned for 6:30-11pm and taking the last hour to clean. 4 and a half hours, 2 of the 4 ½ hours were lost. Ultimately, it wouldn’t have mattered if the sprinklers came on during our ceremony outside. They have shown absolutely no desire to give up a penny without the lengthy process that I just mentioned. For timing information our wedding took place early in August when you can still enjoy the outdoors later in the evening.
Conclusion:
If you’re willing to risk something going wrong this place might be the place for you. Just remember that if anything goes wrong, you can be made whole with an “I’m sorry” in an email.

Unprofessional

Not a good experience with the staff. Needed to view the place, called to say we would be 15 minutes late due to traffic jam, they told us ok np. Came 15 min late and nobody was there. We offered to wait for them to come back, they didn't want to. We asked if they could accommodate to meet as at a later time the next day, they said no, we asked for a video call at the least, at their convenience, they said no. I left my infant and my toddler and my meetings to rush down and see the place. It was a very strange experience. You need to let them know a month in advance and we had one day to let them know if we will book. They were super rude, not accommodating at all. And after I complained about Amber to Sandy, instead of an apology or any way to accommodate us, I got confrontational emails. This staff is extremely unprofessional and after reading some more reviews about them on Facebook I'm glad that it didn't work out. I would not trust to do a special event at this place due to really bad customer service.
