Facilities and Capacity

The majestic Chuckanut Bay Distillery building, located in the heart of historic downtown Bellingham, is vast and impressive, featuring an industrial-meets-historic vibe. Our 4,200 square foot Ballroom has capacity to accommodate up to 300 guests cocktail style, 240 reception only, and 160 for ceremony and reception. With an open floor plan that is bathed in warm light from a wall of windows and glamorous chandeliers, this enchanting space is reminiscent of ballrooms of the past, with hints of our distinct Chuckanut Bay Distillery aesthetic. With a fully-equipped catering kitchen and expansive bar, this grand event space is the perfect venue for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and galas of all kinds. In addition to the Ballroom, the venue has multiple spaces for couples to utilize on their special day, including a private bridal suite and a rooftop bar with an expansive view of the city skyline and Bellingham Bay.

History

The distillery building has a long rich history in Bellingham. It was originally built in 1905 as the Chamber of Commerce. During this tenure, it served as the central hub for downtown activities and home base for visiting dignitaries, including former President Taft. Between the 1940s and 1960s, it served as home for JC Penney. You can still see original signage in the basement from the original boy’s department. Chuckanut Bay Distillery acquired the building in 2017 and began an extensive renovation of the 20,000 square foot building to serve as home for the distillery’s production, tasting room, restaurant and bar, and event space.
