Hello. I'm Rachel and I'm an professional entertainer/singer. I customize the entertainment to your venue, needs, and taste. I can do more of a concert style, a show, or anything inbetween. I use instrumental tracks (that sound live) OR can, (with enough time) get a piano player and a small band together for the occasion. I can work with almost anyone's budget, especially if you just book me. I also have relationships with photographers, make-up artists, and videographers/editors. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email me. I look forward to talking and working with you in the future!
"Rachel’s voice is clear, smooth, and has a very distinct quality all her own. The best way to describe her voice is a vibrant, warm, youthful quality with a womanly power behind it; vintage but with a contemporary feel." - Haim Cotton; 7 time grammy nominee pianst
Rachel grew up in a small town in Northern NJ about a half an hour away from "The Big Apple." She was born into a very musical family. On her mother's side, her grandfather was a pianist, composer, conductor of his own orchestras, and attended Julliard. Her Grandmother was a singer who won many competitions and played piano. (That is actually how they met.) Her Aunt worked at ABC Music Publishing for 30 years. On her father's side, Rachel's uncle played saxophone and was the musical director for a USA Navy cruise ship. Being continuously surrounded with such a musical family, it is no wonder why Rachel realized what her passion was at the tender age of 2.
Rachel has been performing all of her life. She has 12 years of musical theatre training, 17 years of Bel Canto singing training, 10 years of Stella Adler-Stanislavski-Chekhov acting technique for Theater/On-Camera, 6 years of recording studio experience, and 6 years of dance (tap/jazz/hip-hop). Rachel has also starred in 40 musicals, 20 Off-Broadway Cabarets, and originated the role of Antigone in BFK's Oedipus: The Musical Concept CD (Tribeca Studios/NYC). She has been seen on television, in short films, music videos, commercials, and has studied/performed with many people in the business including Grammy Award Winners/Nominees. Rachel has also been hired to perform at many weddings, holiday parties, and festivals through out the tri-state area and has received many standing ovations to sold out crowds (most recently her Off-Broadway one woman show). Rachel is the Founder/Artistic Director of a theatre/production company called Sunshine Face Productions.
Rachel has studied at some of NYC's and NJ's most well respected schools such as The Stella Adler Acting Studio, ACTeen (Weist-Barron); TVI Studios; Actor's Connection; The Network (The Barrow Group Theatre); The Hages Music Studio, Broadway Dance Center; Robin Horneff's Performing Arts Center; Carol Baskinger’s Dance Designs; Action Theatre Conservatory, and Act II Performing Arts Center. She is currently training and has studied with renowned casting directors, agents, performers, composers, directors, and instructors including Judy Hages (Bel Canto Voice), Dave Clemmons (David Clemmons Casting), Pasek and Paul (Benj Pase and Justin Paul), Michael Laibson (Emmy Winning Director), Jamibeth Margolis (CD), Brette Goldstein (CD), Adam Reid (Award Winning Director), B. Lynne Jebens (CD), Mark Simon (Mark Simon Casting), Eric Woodall (Tara Ruben Casting), Lisa Tracy, Kathleen Kalleigh, Joel Robertson, Ron MacFarland, and many more.
Equally comfortable in front of the scenes as well as behind, Rachel is a voice, acting, and performance technique teacher. She has been teaching children, teens, and adults (ages 8 ) for 17 years. She currently has 20 private students and teaches 3 different performance classes in her home studio called "The Menconi Performance Studio". She also teaches at varies studios in NJ and soon to be NYC.
Rachel is not just any singer/actress/songwriter. She is an all around entertainer striving for excellence. Rachel sings all kinds of music (musical theatre, big band, rock, pop, punk, some jazz, etc) and can learn any song on request. Rachel is always working on various musical projects. It seems that when one project ends, another is beginning or being performed.
Since 2007, Rachel is the President/Founder of a music publishing company called Sunshine Face. She has written 52 songs and is currently working on her first original album where Oz Noy, NYC’s top studio guitarist, will be playing on one of Rachel’s singles. Menconi's album "Just Meant To Be" (released 9/28/11) was produced by 7 time Grammy Award Nominee pianist Haim Cotton. It is an acoustic piano and vocal album with an eclectic compil;ation of genres including big band, jazz, Broadway, pop, and rock. The mostly cover album has two of Rachel's original songs and can be purchased here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/just-meant-to-be-feat.-haim/id452716096.
