Did not show up to wedding

We had a horrible experience with Stephanie Walsh, owner of “Planning in Style”. We contacted her months before our wedding to provide day of coordination services, and she seemed eager to help, but the closer we got to our wedding date, she was unresponsive, unprofessional, and unhelpful. When I messaged her, days passed before we heard back. She rescheduled our initial phone call, and never met in person, although our contract stated that 2 in-person meetings and a venue walk through were included in her fee. We were able to chat on the phone a few days after the scheduled call, but she seemed distracted with her children crying and husband talking in the background. I overlooked the obvious distraction and was happy to be moving forward with our wedding planning. After our call, I had to chase after Stephanie to get a schedule and timeline for our wedding day, asking multiple times. Our contract stated that contact and plans with our vendors, and a timeline for the day would be provided at least 1-2 weeks before Our 10/19 wedding. As of 10/16, no one ( us and vendors) had not heard from Stephanie. Every other vendor we hired had contacted us wondering when they would be contacted with a day-of timeline from her. Many of them reached out to her, with no response back. It was embarrassing that we had to do this job for Stephanie. When we reached out asking about a timeline and plan, and told Stephanie that our vendors were concerned, we were ignored or told “I’ll have it to you tomorrow.” This behavior continued up until 4 days prior to the wedding. (We were told on 9/3, a month and a half before, that a timeline would be sent to us and vendors that week, but that never happened.) Stephanie provided an excuse every single time we contacted her for why she did not have anything to show us. Our messages back and forth are very unprofessional on her end. 4 days before our wedding we still had not heard from her, after multiple calls/messages.I ended up making my own timeline and itinerary, as every single one of my vendors was messaging me complaining that they had not heard from her and had not been given a plan for the day of. Stephanie finally responded to me, along with another excuse of why she did not have the information ready, and said she would get it to me that night (The Tuesday before my Saturday wedding). When Stephanie finally sent the timeline, it was extremely un-detailed and unhelpful, provided no information that was useful to us, and looked like it had been written up in five minutes. For a day of coordinator, who we paid in full at the time of booking, I expected a little bit of effort to be made. She had months to work on this for us. I should not have had to reach out to her two months before the wedding, when the wedding services were supposed to begin, and alert her that she had not yet made any point of contact with us. I should not have had to reach out to her a few days before the wedding to tell her to do her job. This is not a what we needed to be dealing with three days before our wedding. I had to CALL HER at 1am, the morning of our wedding, because we still did not hear from her. We were given another excuse, and she said she would send someone to be there, but we were never given a full name, contact info, or anything of any use. The woman sent did an ok job, but we had to do absolutely everything that we originally hired Stephanie to do. We took Stephanie to court and she did not show up TWICE and did not refund our money.

Bad Experience

This was was one of the worst wedding experiences I encountered. I hired Stephanie for my day of coordination and paid in full for the extra discount. Based on my contract she was supposed to start two months before my wedding. Unfortunately, I never heard from her so after two weeks passed that date, I sent an email to set up our first meeting. We scheduled for that weekend and she provided me with a date and time but no location. The day before our meeting I sent an email to confirm our appt scheduled for 10:30 for the next day. I didn’t get a response back so the next morning I called at 9AM and left a message. At 10:31 I sent an email to express my concern in lack of attentiveness. My fiancé also called her twice over the next couple of days to try and get us on the right track moving forward. Two days later I still had no response. I posted a message on fb looking for recommendations for a new coordinator. I was advised to send her a message on her fb and pursue legal action if need be. Five minutes after my message she responded saying she was sorry and busy with family and that she’d refund me by the end of the week. At this point I was less than 4 weeks away from my wedding date so I was absolutely disgusted by the negligence. 9 days had passed and I still hadn’t received payment. I sent her a message and got no response. After approximately 12 days I told her I expected the money by that Friday. She did refund our money, but the hassle we went through to get it back was unreal. its stressful enough as a bride but the stress of her not upholding her end of the contract made it worse. I’m sad to say she was recommended by many on the wedding page I’m a part of. I just recommend for all brides to research before picking any of your vendors and I hope your experience with Stephanie is better than mine.

Most unprofessional in actions and presentation. Would rather go without coordination services than recommend.
