Owls Hoot Barn is a rustic wedding venue located in West Coxsackie, New York. This barn was built in the early 1800s and provides a relaxed environment for a variety of special occasions. The property is nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Hudson, Catskill, and Athens are all easily accessible by car, and New Tork City is approximately two hours away. For the discerning couple, Owls Hoot Barn presents the perfect medium of country charm within a reasonable distance of major metropolitan areas.
Facilities and Capacity
Owls Hoot Barn is able to hold a capacity of 150 individuals on the main level or over 200 guests via the attached pavilion on the ground level. The main level boasts a hay loft that maintains its original timbers and the downstairs lends itself well to a bar and photo booth section. These rooms are completely customizable and can be personalized with the couple's preferential designs. The barn provides access to seven bathrooms, including a wheelchair accessible option, and has commercial fans that keep the room at a comfortable temperature all year round. Air conditioning options are available during the summer months and heat options during cooler months. Twinkle and bistro lights are draped from the ceiling, creating a soft glow throughout the space. Ceremonies may also be held on the grounds outside, surrounded by ancient trees and the bounty of nature. Should inclement weather hit, couples are able to make use of the on-site pavilion.

Rustic barn wedding in the Catskills
We knew within the first few minutes of arriving at Owls Hoot that this would be where we wanted to host our wedding; the more we walked around the property, the more excited we became about that possibility. We ended up grabbing the very last weekend available for the following Fall, confirming it within a few minutes of leaving the venue as we were completely certain on our choice.
We developed a friendship with Kerri, who took a special interest in helping us tailor our ideal wedding and was available to us before, during, and after our wedding; and we can’t emphasize enough how important having that relationship has been to us. Kerri is a wonderful and caring person, and she cares deeply about the experience she helps create for her guests.
We have made several weekend trips up to Owls Hoot, twice prior to our wedding, with the excuse of doing some early planning, but primarily to relax and immerse ourselves in the beautiful property before the big day. We also made a return trip, post-wedding, just after our first wedding anniversary, a great way to celebrate our special day and a tradition we intend to continue as best we can. Also, each time we visit, Kerri surprises us with new additions or work being done on the property, a real plus for both new and returning guests.
We’re so happy we found this place and we can’t imagine a better venue than Owls Hoot for a rustic barn wedding. Our whole experience was truly special and we look forward to our return trips in the years ahead.
