We highly recommend NorCal Pro Sound a 10/10. DJ Tony was amazing at our wedding. Beginning with the planning process to the actual day, he was very organized, patient, & accommodating with all of our requests. We even had a family emergency that disrupted our wedding, but Tony was able to still keep the wedding going despite the abrupt distraction. He was also able to keep up with our crazy Filipino atmosphere ,which makes us want to give him more brownie points!

My fiancée and I recently got married at Solage in Calistoga, and our wedding planner recommended we get in touch with Tony at Nor Cal Pro Sound. I’ll go into a lot of details in this review, but if you take away one thing right now it’s that I can’t recommend Tony highly enough. We’re now two weeks post wedding and our guests are still raving about the music, saying it was the best dance party they’d ever been to. Not “wedding dance party” but “dance party”. I’m not kidding. Just book Nor Cal Pro Sound and specifically do what you can to book Tony – you can thank me later.

Ok, onto the nitty gritty details.

My fiancée and I had originally considered a live band, but had some concerns about finding the right one at a reasonable price. Then we also realized we’d need another setup for ceremony and cocktail hour music, not to mention someone to carry lightweight MC duties for introductions and the like. Weddings are hard enough to put together (so many decisions), so we decided to go the DJ route. At the time, we thought we were just taking the easy way out, but after working with DJ Tony, I honestly don’t think we could have made a better choice.

From our first video call, Tony was awesome. His passion for and knowledge about music was super apparent, and I felt confident he would provide a polished, professional appearance, even to our often critical Asian families (if you know you know). Tony asked us if we had any questions or specific requests for his role, and also ran us through an easy-to-use app for adding any song choices and special notes we had for the various components of the event.

We were pretty delayed in selecting music – I took a lot of time to curate playlists of songs for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. I didn’t want to leave too much up to chance or interpretation, but in retrospect I realize that I probably didn’t need to spend as much time as I did, because Tony totally understood the vibe that we wanted for every portion of the evening, and he found and added additional music that integrated seamlessly into my selections.

On the day of our wedding intermittent rains were forecasted, so we initially planned to host the ceremony at an indoor space on the Solage property. As the start time approached, however, the clouds started to part and we decided to take a risk and move the ceremony back outdoors. Tony rolled with the changes and moved his audio setup without a single problem. And we lucked out – just as the procession started, the sun came out and the rain clouds stayed away for the whole ceremony.

Music through the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner were perfect. Tony’s setup in the reception area was super nice, too. We ordered an uplight package which looked great and Tony’s station had nice, white speakers to match the space along with a large TV display that showed our names on a nice floral backdrop that matched our colors. To be honest, we totally weren’t expecting that and hadn’t reviewed it beforehand, but it looked awesome.

When it came time to MC a few things, Tony did just a great job. Enough vocal personality to grab people’s attention, but not an ounce of overdoing it. I’ve been to weddings where the DJ was either awkwardly sheepish or they wanted to make themselves the center of attention.. Tony made his role just naturally appropriate throughout the whole evening.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the dancing, because we were told by everyone that all that anyone remembers from a wedding is the food and the music. As I mentioned, I’d provided a list of dance songs that I thought would be good for dancing. I knew my family loved to dance, and my fiancée’s family could also get down if the vibe was right. Tony just blew the roof off the room. He took the songs I’d picked, and actually mixed and beatmatched and crossfaded (and all the other DJ-related terms that I don’t really understand) and made a seamless set that kept people dancing the entire night. There were no awkward pauses or slow fade outs or songs that went on a bit too long (or too short, for that matter). And Tony pulled in other songs that we forgot to add but totally loved, and he even found great remixes of songs that better fit the dance vibe. He also took a couple live requests and seamlessly integrated them into the set, and later in the evening someone asked if he could dip into a little EDM, which I enjoy but hadn’t added any to the list (because they tend to be a little too long in the build-up), and Tony just made that happen perfectly too. It was honestly wild and seriously impressive. I used to go clubbing a lot and have been to my share of festivals, and I’ve never enjoyed a night of music as much as the set that DJ Tony performed live at our wedding. It’s crazy, and I actually requested that Tony send us the audio of his set so I could just vibe out to it while working or working out in the future. At risk of sounding pretentious, I’d say that Tony is more than a mere DJ – he’s an artist.

So yea, it’s no surprise that our guests are still raving about the music at the wedding. And on top of that, Tony is just a genuinely stellar, nice dude. Have really enjoyed getting to know him through the process, and hope we can find an excuse to hang out / hire him again.

So to sum up this looong review (you were warned) – just stop stressing over your choices and book Tony @ Nor Cal Pro Sound. Do it.

Our wedding was perfect and stress free throughout the entire process and a big part of that was due to this stellar team! Alex made the initial steps so easy, Tony was fabulous in answering any questions and assisting with their app, Amanda was incredible in helping us design our photo booth layouts as well as being such a bright light the night of. Special shout out to our DJ, Dray who made our night so flawless and fun from start to finish. He helped the event flow seamlessly and is so intuitive with his music selections. I could not recommend them all more!!
