Mt. Washington Mill Dye House is a repurposed 19th-century cotton mill located in Baltimore, Maryland. The industrial design behind this venue creates a rustic, picturesque atmosphere for your wedding day. This venue offers over 5,000 square feet of space and exterior plazas, blending the history of this building with modern architecture. You can look forward to the authentic wood beams, multi-pane windows, exposed brick, and distressed concrete floors to bring you back to the 1800s with this venue.
Facilities And Capacity
Mt. Washington Mill Dye House accommodates a maximum capacity of 200-400 guests, depending on the layout you choose. This is an indoor and outdoor event space of 5,000 square feet in three separate areas. These three areas are the Dye House I & II, and the Cocktail Room. Dye House I and II can host 200 guests for a seated dinner and use of an outdoor terrace. The Cocktail Room is a smaller, personal, more intimate setting that can seat up to 100 guests. Use of all three of these spaces can accommodate up to 400 guests for a standing reception. The brick and paved courtyard is a charming area for guests to mingle.

History
Mt. Washington Mill was built in 1810 and is the earliest surviving cotton textile plant in Maryland. It is the third-oldest water-powered cotton mill in the U.S. The Dye House started in 1850 and was operated as a cotton mill until 1923. From there, it was the headquarters of the Maryland Nut and Bolt Company until 1989.

The Perfect Venue to Create the Wedding of Your Dreams
Michele was so easy to work with and always answered my emails promptly. She knows every detail and every inch of the Dye House like the back of her hand and I always trusted her recommendations if I ever had any doubts. We loved both catering options but decided to go with Copper Kitchen because they seemed to be a little more hands on with the planning process and we couldn't have been happier. All of our guests raved about our food and the bar service was excellent.
The nice thing about the Dye House was that, aside from the caterers, we could use any vendors we wanted. We tried to select vendors that have worked at the Dye House at least once before, most of them have worked there quite often, so it was nice to be able to trust their recommendations and listen to their suggestions. We loved that we had a beautiful canvas to work with, we felt like the venue had enough charm on its own where we could make it as simple or elegant as we wanted. Our guests were in awe with the charm of the venue and loved how unique it was. It was also very easy for everyone to travel to--we had our guests stay in Harbor East, Baltimore and they were able to drive, fly, or take the Amtrak very easily.
Without a doubt it was worth the wait to have our wedding at the Mt. Washington Mill - Dye House!
The Most Perfect Day
The team of vendors that frequently work with the Dye House are true professionals, everyone we chose to work with provided just enough guidance so we felt we knew what we were doing without imposing their ideas. Sherri from Linwoods was amazing and everyone raved about the food and service!
Communication was always prompt and clear. We were given options and flexibility for indoor vs outdoor and pros and cons for each. Sadly, our outdoor ceremony didn't happen, but we had up until the afternoon of our wedding day to make that call and we are so happy with our decision, even though it wasn't what we originally imagined.
Michele also helped coordinate some rentals that we shared costs with another couple getting married the following day.
There's not a thing I would have changed about this day, and a big reason for that is the service and space at Mt. Washington Mill Dye House.

If you’re considering Dye House or it’s sister venue, Winslow, just go ahead ahead and book it. The space is beautiful and Michele the Director of Events is lovely and accommodating. Throughout the planning process I didn’t have a wedding planner until the last few months, but she graciously answered questions I had about the space and logistics within record time. The exposed brick and outdoor options of the Dye House make for a unique and intimate setting for your wedding.
