“I’ve never had food that good at a wedding before.” In the days following our June 2024 wedding at the Gwyn Careg Inn, we heard variations of the above from dozens of our guests. Compliments came from friends in the restaurant business, from family members who care deeply about food quality and freshness, and from our other vendors (who are clearly an authority on wedding food!) We were so delighted with Matthew from the start. He was flexible and attentive to our needs and tastes, made a few lovely exceptions for us, and even put together a special brides’ tray of oysters for us after our ceremony. He was receptive throughout to our dietary restrictions and cultural needs. Every bite from appetizer through dessert was delicious and the food quality was a true highlight of our wedding! Additionally, his staff was lovely - attentive, flexible, hard-working, and so kind. I highly, highly recommend Matthew for your catering needs!

Matthew's Catering Company catered our 6/8/2024 wedding at the Gwyn Careg Inn and completely knocked it out of the park. We had a daytime afternoon tea-style garden wedding, and Matthew and his team came up with such a fun, creative, dainty-yet-still-filling menu to fit the theme! The food was abundant and absolutely delicious, and accommodated a variety of dietary restrictions per our request. My husband and I made a point to actually stay seated and eat everything we could during the meal portion of the wedding because the food was just too good to miss out on!

I simply cannot begin to describe how wonderful Matthews Catering and Penny, the day-of-coordinator, are. We planned our wedding from many states away and even with the complications that brought, Matthews was attentive to my questions, and flexible with my, and my family's schedules. On the day of my wedding, I knew I was in good hands with Penny running the show. I did not have a seperate planner/coordinator, so having Penny run us through the ceremony cues, the schedule for the entire day, and everything else was incredible. And of course, the food was absolutely amazing. We had multiple guests tell us how much they enjoyed it. We also had guests with dietary restrictions and they also had a wonderful meal. My son and his wife came home to Connecticut for their wedding from the West coast and I was charged with finding a caterer. Needless to say, I was nervous with the responsibility and well aware of the challenges of planning a wedding with multiple people from long distances. I did my homework and was convinced I had selected the right caterer when I spoke to both Penny and Matthew. What a team! Professional and talented, they handled everything from the delicious, plentiful food, to the timely responses to questions, to setting up the tables and running through the rehearsal. One of the caterers even held my dog during the service until it was time for him to bear the rings. Their crew was equally professional, courteous and unobtrusive in their service. Matthew's Catering was one of our best choices for our wedding. From the tasting to the actual day of, my family and friends were blown away with the food served. I am so overdue in writing a review for Matt, Linda, and the Matthew's Catering Team. They catered our wedding on 9/4/2022 and it was the best decision we ever made. I feel like no written review could do them appropriate justice--you must experience it for yourself. Matthew's is SO MUCH more than a catering company and they become more like friends to us. We knew immediately after our initial phone consultation/menu design that they were going to be the highlight of our wedding. Matt is so passionate about cooking and that comes through with the versatility of the menu creation and the favors of the food. Four months later and my guest are still talking about how our food was the best wedding meal they ever tasted!!! (do yourself a favor and put the mac and cheese on your menu).

Linda- she was an amazing coordinator and friend to us throughout the process. She made us feel so comfortable and was there to help us throughout EVERY STEP of the planning and execution and was only a call or text away. She smiled every time I told her I changed my mind on the set up or design and was happy to accommodate any request. Our wedding went seamlessly because of Linda's direction and guidance. She took care of everything so we could enjoy our day without interruption. She is the kindest and most amazing person to work with.

Matthew' Catering staff- they were so incredible and took great care of our guests. From the set up, breakdown, serving guests they didn't miss a beat. Numerous guests commented on how they were the most attentive and kind staff they ever encountered at a wedding.

My favorite part of wedding planning was working with this team because they helped alleviate any stress with their experience, kindness, and passion for bringing people together with delicious food. They were also the most affordable option that we considered with the highest quality/tasty food. 10000/10 would recommend over and over again.

My husband and I got married on 10/13/19 at a local French club. The French club provided us with 4 selections of caterers one being Matthews catering. I have lived in eastern Connecticut my entire life and never heard of them. Their website social media pictures and reviews were amazing, so we scheduled a meet & greet. From the second we walked through the door we were blown away. The compassion understanding and all around comfort we felt we knew this was a no brainer. The staff did not treat us as another “customer” they treated us as family and wanted the best for our special day. From the food to the appearance set up those hiccups from unruly guests they just took care of everything! I do and have highly recommended them to anyone and everyone. If you want one of the most laid back and unstressful day this is the best place to make your day a fairytale.
