About

The Majestic theatre is one of the largest Vaudeville theatre’s in Chicago-land and oldest in the United States, will re-open in late 2010 as a multi-purpose venue.

The theatre featuring a/an full stage, 20 foot screen, art deco grand style second & third floor balconies and rear walking museum will seat 500. The theatre being equipped with hi-end technology capabilities will not only host Wedding ceremonies, receptions, concerts, fashion shows, business seminars, pageants and proms but just about any venue the mind could develop. Full catering and bar are also available.

Built in 1912 by twice-widowed Ms. Julia Remington who was a visionary ahead of her time, this Grand theatre originally cost $80,000. After its grand success the theatre burnt down 5 months later. Immediately being re-built it hosted the famous Marx Brothers in 1916 and Sandra Bernhardt, who at 67 of age was considered the greatest living actress.

I loved how unique this venue was and it was so close to me. All of our guests LOVED it and commented how great everything was (food, decor, etc.) Toni and Brenda were so great to work with. They answered all of my calls and were able to answer any and all of my questions. The one thing I enjoyed above the rest, was that Toni (who I worked more closely with) was just as excited for the reception as I was. She did not make me feel like another bride booking but as a friend. She took the time to get to know me. Toni and Brenda were also there to help us set up and take down all of the decorations and were there the entire reception to help make sure everything ran smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride that wants something different from the usual banquet hall!

The theatre was great. Such a great space. Even outside the theatre is great for pictures. Toni and Brenda are the coordinators. They were great in answering all my questions leading up to the wedding and even made me more excited for everything! There were a couple of "extra" things that I wanted them to do the night of the wedding, which they did. They were very flexible with me. There were only a couple things I didn't like. I wanted ivory table covers for everything, but they didn't have them for the hors doeurve table, the candy table, or the guest book table. They used black instead, which isn't horrible, but it clashed with my color scheme. They also forgot to set up the video I had played after dinner, so I had to go and set it all up. This was unexpected but it turned out fine. Overall, very happy!

Its REALLY big, so decorations are a must. Other than that everyone was very helpful with the process! They let me come in on my own time and set up a table with some decor i'd like to use to see if i'd like it and if i had a good and big enough centerpiece for my wedding. Pricey place, but good!

This theatre is super cool and fit our theme very well. I was very happy with how my wedding looked and had many compliments on the venue. The price was perfect for us as well.
The ladies who own the theatre are sometimes short with you and may not always be responsive to emails or calls. One of my guests reported the owners who were working the bar at my wedding as being "flustered" about the rush at the bar and cutting her off when she wasn't even done ordering her drink. They could be a little more friendly especially when you are handing over such a large check. They also need to revamp the bridal room and repaint the staircase and some of the walls.

I loved this venue! The original brick walls, the wooden stair case and the vine covered brick alley-way are beautiful! This venue is awesome if you have a band because they have a huge elevated stage! The food was phenomenal provided by La Gravina, through this venue. The owners Toni and Brenda are very friendly and flexible. The only issues we had were the table cloths were very wrinkled, we had to iron them ourselves. Also, one of the tables they set up was broken, but when we notified them they replaced it. Wonderful reception, I was very pleased!

Make sure you have enough decoration. The theater itself is beautiful, but it does need to have more in the way of decoration to make it look like a wedding reception.
