History
This historic property originally opened in 1925 as the Mayfair Hotel, which hosted Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, Irving Berlin, and John Barrymore, as well as Presidents Harry S. Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. It is the site of many historical firsts, including the first female general manager in St. Louis and the birthplace of chocolates on a pillow by cinematic icon Cary Grant. The Magnolia Hotel St. Louis reopened in August 2014 after a multi-million dollar renovation, preserving the property's historic character and features while integrating boutique elements and design.
