We had the absolute pleasure of working with Karl Rouwhorst of LuminareFoto for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding day, and we truly cannot recommend him enough. From the moment he arrived, Karl was the perfect balance of professional and personable—he immediately vibed with our group and made everyone feel comfortable and at ease.

He kept us effortlessly on schedule without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. His calm, confident energy was exactly what we needed during such an important weekend. Karl also worked seamlessly alongside our videographer, Gabriel Rosario, creating an incredible team dynamic that allowed every moment to be captured without a hitch.

One of the biggest highlights of our wedding day—for both my husband and me—was Karl. He made sure we were enjoying every moment, while also ensuring we got all the shots and memories we wanted (and even ones we didn’t know we needed). The photographs were beautiful, the turnaround time was lightening fast, and Karl was the perfect personality for our wedding. Our venue had multiple picturesque locations and Karl took time before the wedding to find the very best areas for our rainy morning portraits. His attention to detail resulted in beautiful shots of everything from our family photos, to our rings, to our food and decor. He was both professional and friendly, so easily mingled with our kookier family members while firmly moving us through the formal pictures. At the reception, he was everywhere and nowhere all at once, catching so many special moments that don’t remember seeing him around for.

Working with Karl was an absolute pleasure. Not only is he incredibly talented—his photos are stunning and full of emotion—but he’s also thoughtful, intuitive, and goes above and beyond without you even asking. For instance, when I completely forgot to schedule a photo with my sister, Karl noticed and took it upon himself to find her during cocktail hour and make it happen. That moment alone would’ve been lost without him.

But what truly sets Karl apart is the integral role he played on my wedding day. Even eight months later, I can confidently say the day would not have been the same without him. He stepped far beyond the role of photographer—offering day-of coordination, calm crisis management, and genuine emotional support.

When a makeup disaster threw off our schedule, Karl immediately pivoted. He restructured the entire photo plan to give me more time, kept things moving without stress, communicated the changes to my planner (who was at the ceremony site), and most importantly, kept me grounded and calm. Without his advocacy and presence, I would’ve felt rushed and overwhelmed, and likely wouldn’t have taken the time to fix something that truly needed fixing.

My wedding was the happiest day of my life, and Karl was a huge reason why. He’s not just a photographer—he’s a steady hand, a creative guide, and someone you absolutely want by your side on one of the most important days of your life.

Karl shot our rehearsal dinner and provided us with some amazing shots and sent our photos over extremely quickly. Super kind and easy to work with as well as great at getting our guests together for some shots!

Karl is the type of wedding vendor you meet once in a great while - he truly goes above and beyond for his clients and he did everything in his power to make our day special. I have not received our final portfolio of photos yet as our wedding was just a week ago, but I am reviewing now because I am that impressed with him.

We booked Karl for our destination wedding as well as an engagement shoot. The engagement photos were fun to take and were a great opportunity for us to get familiar with Karl! In October of 2022 we were thrown for a loop when our original wedding venue was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. Karl was flexible and more than willing to work with our new venue. He also helped us choose a new venue by offering his insight about each that we were choosing! Since we did not live in Naples it made a huge difference for us to get a real opinion on our new options.

When we came down for a second menu tasting at the new hotel, Karl met with us again to walk through our wedding day and had some really fantastic options for first-look photos up his sleeve at an off-site location we never would have known about before. He also gave great pizza recommendations!

On the day of the wedding itself, Karl was just amazing. He directed photos so effortlessly and got along so well with my bridesmaids that he honestly could have just fit right into our friend group. He helped them figure out how to bustle my dress, helped me find shade and water when I was overheating, and helped me find a shady place for my bouquet to live so it still looked great in photos. He stuck around to take sunset photos for us and they are some of my favorites. His photo style is light and airy and natural and I can just tell that these pictures are going to look classy and timeless for years to come. Everyone I have shown our sneak peek pictures too says they look like they belong on the cover of a magazine and I have to say I agree!

Karl recently photographed my surprise engagement and I am absolutely in love with the photos we received. Karl and his wife, Nanette, traveled from Naples FL to Savannah GA to shoot our wedding and rehearsal, and I cannot sing their praises enough!! They are both extremely professional but also very personable and playful. They made taking our photos so much fun but were able to keep us (and our large somewhat wild wedding party) on track and on schedule. It ended up raining throughout most of our outdoor wedding and first look, which was quite stessful, but Karl and Nanette kept us calm and collected with their positivity and leadership. They took the reigns and were able to quickly adapt and help create the best plan B. They even held umbrellas over us in between shots! They are truly wonderful people to spend your most important day with! Prior to the events, Karl also went out of his way to understand my hopes and vision for our wedding photos. My husband and I loved working with Karl and his team this past weekend (3/26). He knew the ins and outs our venue (Ritz Carlton) and made sure to get the best shots for the weather, time and groups of friends/family. From the first phone call I had with Karl, I knew that Karl was going to be a beyond amazing addition to our wedding day vendors.
