HEY! I'm Liv Lyszyk Maxwell (pronounced LY-zick, blame it on my Polish and Ukrainian roots) and I am a 20-something wedding and portrait photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Most days you can find me designing for my other business Liv Lyszyk Prints, wearing leggings (I don't do zippers), and eating too much sushi. I spend my time fighting for equity in the interest of all marginalized groups. I am always looking for my next travel adventure whether that be to a new town on lake Michigan, or half way around the world, I want to see it all.
My photography style is earthy, romantic, and genuine. I’m not going to make you look like you are at 80’s prom, because if you are like me, you really want to see those authentic moments. The ones where grandpa Jim is tearing up watching you dance, or where your child sneaks a kiss on your head. I am breaker of traditions in that I know each couple has their own unique vision. I get so excited when couples decide to go against the grain and unapologetically do what they want. Whatever it may be, I want it to be uniquely yours.

I truly cannot gush enough about how fantastic Liv is! We utilized her for both engagement and wedding photos and were blown away! Photos came back quickly (both sneak peeks and the whole bundle), communication was precise and clear, and Liv has an awesome personality that helped us feel comfortable, have fun, and feel great in front of the camera (and in the in between moments too!). We would absolutely choose Liv again over and over.

Insanely talented photographer!
Liv was my most responsive wedding vendor, who captured the essence of being the most important vendor. They were extremely professional and accommodating throughout our engagement session and wedding. I couldn't believe it when they went so far as to send us sneak peaks of our engagement session the SAME day (and after driving three hours both ways)! Truly an incredible photographer who has the most intense passion and talent for this field. I cannot recommend Liv enough!!

Best Decision!
Liv was truly fantastic to work with! We used Liv’s services for our engagement shoot and had several locations where all the photos turned out incredible. Liv truly captures love and joy in their photos and has a great eye to catch the whole scene with beautiful colors. On our wedding day, Liv was able to bounce back and forth between our bridal rooms and capture those special moments we each had. Our whole party has been raving about how wonderful Liv was to be around and how they helped make our day special. Liv is kind and fun and was there to make the most of capturing the special moments throughout the day. Liv made sure to ask if there were any other photos we wanted before leaving each location and before checking out for the night. We very promptly received a sneak peak package of 29 photos from the day which were all amazing! We are so happy with choosing Liv as our photographer and would recommend them for anyone, but especially queer couples!! We feel so lucky to have had Liv as our photographer and will enjoy reliving our wedding through our beautiful photos forever. Thank you, Liv!

Liv gets all the stars in the world!
We are so happy we went with them for our wedding, I don't even know where to begin. I highly recommend everyone has a Liv for their wedding.
Even though we had never met before, it felt like having a best friend there. They were so friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to help out with staging, timing, and the like during the event. The photos are absolutely incredible—she was there catching all the important moments without being intrusive. Her presence felt so natural, which was perfect for us, and the photos really capture how comfortable we were.
Ahead of the event, it was so easy to communicate with her, and her resources were excellent and helpful. She was very thorough in asking what we wanted, what our expectations were, what are concerns were, etc. Sneak peek photos came quickly, so we had a few great snapshots to share with friends and family soon after the wedding.

Professional, communicative, easy-going!
Where do I even begin with Liv??? Way back in early 2019, before we were even engaged, my now-husband and I kept throwing around the idea of having our future wedding at a summer camp. When I stumbled upon an article in A Practical Wedding with Liv's photos that were exactly the vibe we were going for, it felt like fate, especially when we realized they were also in Michigan.
Liv is easy to communicate with, has a great sense of humor, and was laid back and open-minded when it came to what we wanted out of our wedding day. They made us feel comfortable and found so many creative spaces during both our engagement session and our wedding to get unique shots.
When we had to postpone, Liv was easy to work with and understanding, as they had gone through the same thing. I appreciated that they were taking covid seriously as well! Finding vendors whose values matched my own was a big thing I strived for in my planning when at all possible.
The turnaround to get our photos was faster than we expected and we have gotten so many compliments and know we will look back at these photos for the rest of our lives with absolutely joy! Would highly recommend Liv to anyone who is getting married!

Liv was an absolute joy to work with! Planning a wedding is stressful and she made such a huge part of that stress go away. You cannot put a price on the photos you’ll have for a lifetime. Definitely hire Liv!
We originally found and picked Liv because of her commitment to inclusivity as a wedding photographer. She was AMAZING to work with - responded promptly, was flexible and more than willing to help with planning and executing timelines, professional, comfortable, and took and delivered BEAUTIFUL photos to us. As a fat queer femme marrying another femme, we were so thankful to have found a photographer that celebrated our love and knew how to take pictures of it well.
