About
On WeddingWire since 2006
The Kentlands Mansion is a mansion wedding venue in the Washington, D.C. area. This historic venue also serves as an art gallery with a rotating exhibition, giving couples a touch of color and creativity on their special day. This venue can be found near Gaithersburg, Maryland, approximately 40 minutes from the Washington National Cathedral.
Facilities and Capacity
As many as 150 guests can join couples on their big day at this mansion venue. The building itself has two floors and eight rooms that couples may use for their big day. It sits on a well-manicured lawn that features a side garden, allowing wedding events to spill outdoors depending on the weather and the season. The rooms are decorated like a sophisticated home, with antique-style furniture, golden chandeliers, crown molding and - of course - works of art hung along all the walls that are supplemented in places by statues and curio cabinets. In one of the main banquet rooms, the walls are made of an ornate and darkly colored wood.
Services Offered
This venue offers event planning to help couples prepare for their big day. At the Kentlands Mansion, couples can host a bridal shower, engagement party or rehearsal dinner in addition to their ceremony and reception. Other services through this venue include:
- Bridal suites
- Outside vendors
- Free parking
- Setup of tables and chairs
- Wireless Internet
History
The history of the estate can be traced back to 1723 as a land grant. The brick mansion was constructed by the owner’s son after his father’s death in 1892. Other buildings were also constructed on the property, many of which are - like the Kentlands Mansion - still standing and in use today. The lands were purchased by Otis Beall Kent and given a name that still sticks to this day, Kentlands. The property underwent a massive reconstruction and restoration project in the hands of the new owner, and was expanded at one point to 1,100 acres as a gentleman’s estate and wildlife sanctuary.

The Kentlands Mansion is a wonderful venue with a great staff. It's a charming place tucked away in a neighborhood in Gaithersburg.

Kentlands is one of my favorite wedding venues in the area. The building is awesome for getting ready shots, the ceremony (inside or out) and for the reception. Moreover, the grounds around Kentlands Mansion are ideal for bride and groom portraits. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and accommodating and will work with you to make your wedding a perfect day to remember. I have shot many weddings there and always look forward to the next one.
