We had a falling out with our first florist about 4 weeks before the wedding. We were desperate and thanks to our reception site coordinator, we were able to connect with Kathy Wright. At that point, we expected to be paying a premium. She was a little more expensive than the other florists we had worked with, but given her experience in the industry and familiarity with our reception venue, we booked her.
I never met with Kathy in person. We tried on the Wednesday before the wedding, but she had to cancel about an hour before our meeting (that was not our favorite exchange). We did have a phone consultation and my mom was able to meet with her a couple times. By that point, from the harrowing experience with the previous florist, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted for my flowers. I scoured the internet for examples of what I wanted. By the time we agreed on the contract, I still wasn't 100% sure of what I was getting.
I was delightfully surprised. The centerpieces were exactly what I hoped for. The bridesmaids' bouquets were also exactly what I hoped for. My bouquet wasn't 100% what I wanted, but for the budget and flower selection...the bouquet looked fantastic in the pictures, which is what I hoped for. The groomsmen's boutonnieres weren't my favorite either, but they fit with our theme (although why they were fastened with pastel butterfly hair clips I'll never know). My mom's corsage fell apart when she picked it up, but the men who delivered the flowers took it and fixed it quickly. The corsages had this really neat gold metal weaved cuff (I would have liked to have had the choice since both mothers wore silver jewelry but nit-picking).
For all of our florist woes, Kathy Wright offered us a wonderful confidence with the short notice, an out-of-town bride, and budget. Thank you so much for all of your work.
