Experience
Julie Martin attended Christopher Newport University, where she completed a wedding coordinator internship at a prominent resort. She later pursued her interest in photography, an interest that began in childhood. Julie and her staff are awesome to work with. We did both an engagement photoshoot and also the full package on the day of. They showed up ready to jump right in! They listened to everything we wanted and had said ahead of time, and also things we came up with on the day of our wedding. Julie and her assistant were full of their own suggestions as well, and truly made us feel like we were the super special stars of the day (which of course, we were, but still!). You definitely can't pass up having Julie Martin Photography for your wedding or event. Consummate professionals, creative, caring, and super funny! They worked with and around our personalities and our events own special and sometimes odd things. I can't say enough positive things about them and their work! I knew going into the beginning of wedding planning that few things are as important in the long run as the photographer, and can guarantee you Julie and her staff are the best of the best.

Our favorite photographer!
Julie needs to be your wedding photographer! She was so much fun to be around, a consummate professional, so great at directing what to do, how to pose, where to stand, so we didn’t have to worry about anything except looking good! We ended up due for rain on our wedding day, but Julie was so on point with making sure we got outside at our venue (Colonial Heritage) to take photos before that happened, and even did such a great job with touching up some pictures that she made them look just like sunset pictures without any actual sunset. She did our engagement shoot as well, and that was so much fun and so easy as she knew exactly what she was doing in recommending a location and how to work it. During the ceremony and reception I hardly noticed her around, as she was so great at finding exactly where to be to capture the best photos without being in your face, and she caught some incredible moments I never would have known happened had she not been there! Some of our favorite photos were ones where she just winged it and said “hey let’s just try this,” her ideas were so great! Please, do yourself a favor and book Julie for your wedding!

We are so happy with our wedding photos!
From our first conversation to sending us our photos, it was a joy to work with Julie! She was very helpful and flexible when talking through our wedding day and the different pictures that we wanted. Julie and her second photographer, Melissa, helped us feel comfortable. We are so pleased with all of our wedding photos!

Wedding ceremony
Julie was wonderful and very helpful. She is very knowledgeable also passionate about her craft. It was a cold but beautiful day and she helped us out big time. The pictures were awesome! I would definitely like to get more pictures from her in the future.

Fantastic Choice
In my opinion, the photographer was one of the most important decisions we had to make when planning our October 2020 wedding, and I could not be happier with our choice! Julie Martin is amazing. She did our engagement and wedding pictures. She was so easy to talk to and fun to work with. When we were considering completely changing our wedding, because you know 2020, she was always on board and even willing to adjust our contract if needed. My husband and I are not the most photogenic people and can be incredibly awkward, but Julie did a great job our helping us relax and capturing great shots. Julie was assertive enough to wrangle our bridal party and family into pictures quickly, which is no easy feat, but at no point did any one get the impression she was bossy or difficult to work with. Our family and bridal party were very impressed and happy with how quickly all of our pictures were done and they could enjoy the party. Candid pictures were just as, if not more, important to us than posed pictures and we have so many great ones. Narrowing down our favorites from the nearly 1000 pictures we got was not easy!

I would recommend Julie for any event. She did my wedding on 10/9/20 and I cried when she sent me a preview pictures. I don’t think she got one bad picture for the whole night. She was fun to work with and had a great sense of humor!
