About
Deciding to get married is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make in your life - it is thrilling, scary, and full of moments where you are on cloud nine, while at other times when you wonder "what the heck are we doing?!" That's where I come in - I can provide you with not only the knowledge you will need not only to meet all the legal requirements of a marriage but based on my 17 years of experience as a Justice of the Peace, I can provide you with a wealth of suggestions to create a ceremony that is as special as your day deserves to be!
As you begin the planning process, I will gather information from you to determine what type of ceremony you have in mind and walk you through the legal requirements, the timelines, and provide you detailed information on every aspect of your wedding ceremony: from different types of ceremonies, to vows, readings and more! I will be sure that you are well informed and provide ongoing guidance when questions arise. You may opt to include special elements such as a Unity Candle, Sand Ceremony, a Rose Ceremony and more. I will explain what the significance of these elements and how they can enhance the public commitment you are making as husband and wife.
Most of all, I will get to know you and your love story, so that I can assist you to make your ceremony as personal as possible. I encourage couples to write their own vows, if desired. I love to include family members who can perform readings, or specific cultural traditions.
Are you planning an Elopement Style Wedding? In season, I offer a lovely yard with a stone patio and permanent arch, while during the winter, my sunroom filled with plants serves as a special location.
Are you becoming a blended family? There are many ways to include children, young or adult, in the ceremony. Based on your own family, I can make suggestions that meaningful and loving.
In addition to planning and performance of your wedding ceremony, I provide you with a souvenir wedding certificate, a copy of your ceremony to cherish as a keepsake, music if needed, as well as handle all the legal requirements.
There is a bonus when you choose me! My husband who is a former Mayor of our town, is also a JP and he serves as a back up to me, should the need arise. Whether your cermeony is next week, or next year, it is nice to know we have a "Plan B" to give you a little assurance that you will have a JP when the big day arrives!
No matter what type of ceremony you are planning, it is my goal to "Not only meet your expectations, but to exceed them!"
I provide couples with a free 30 minute virtual consultation which can be booked through my website: janicejp.com.
