Working with Emily was incredible, she is knowledgeable and flexible. After the proposal, I needed to make some adjustments to the size of the ring so it wouldn't fly off my fiance's finger. She quickly provided the perfect solution.

I worked with Emily Marquis Designs for the necklaces that my mom and I wore for my wedding day. We had gemstones that my late grandfather had cut/faceted many years ago, my dad had been his assistant as a kid. Emily met with my parents and I to get an idea of what we had in mind. We had a very creative and collaborative group conversation; my dad is an architect and I do design. We took turns talking and sketching different ideas, and by the end of the conversation it was clear that Emily understood what we were looking for and how to accomplish it. We discussed different metal types, prices and settled on the choices as a group.

Emily also made the earrings that my bridesmaids, sisters in law and I wore. She worked with me to pick the mother of pearl flowers and then made the earrings. She also made hair pins with the extras that my bridesmaids used the day of the wedding too! Emily even polished and fixed the clasp of my grandmother's bracelet that I wore the day of the wedding.

Also: When I pulled the blue stone out of storage to give it to Emily, it had a chipped corner! Couldn't believe it! But Emily told me not to worry about it, and she was right - she was able to completely disguise the chip. You would never know.

I've been taking classes in jewelry-making with Emily since 2017. She's incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and has a great eye for design. Most recently, Emily helped me to make a pair of earrings as a gift for my academic advisor. We made the pair completely from scratch from recycled gold and stones that I provided. Emily was communicative and available at every stage of the process. I designed the earrings, but Emily assisted in modifications that would better suit the recipient and which helped ensure the integrity of the jewelry. She helped me choose stones and put me in touch with those who sold them. She also provided the recycled gold at a very fair price. The process of making the earrings was smooth and super interesting. Emily was as hands-off or hands-on as I needed her to be. She was very careful not to baby me too much, she still wanted these to be MY creations. While she was always at my side to assist and teach, she let me really make these myself. I learned so much about process, materials, and design through this process that I will carry with me into the future. Emily was very responsive to questions and upfront about pricing, timeline, and other logistic and practical details.
