Absolutely Incredible Venue

My husband and I had our DREAM WEDDING here on 24 Sept. This venue is incredible. It is under new ownership and they were beyond fantastic to work with. The on-site cottage was amazing for getting ready. The whole venue is just so peaceful, charming, and beautiful. I can't recommend it enough.

Scenic and historic

I attended a museum gala at the Farm at Cedar Mountain recently. The scenery is beautiful as are the grounds. Very pedestrian friendly as well. A little piece of heaven in the Virginia countryside, and historic ground to boot.

Maid of honor

This weekend I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and although it was a beautiful location and celebration, we were very displeased with the venue and the owners. I have been in numerous weddings at various locations and know what is expected from a venue. First off, during the rehearsal the owners were not present to answer important questions. Every other venue I’ve been at the owners were present to give advice on set up as they have experience and know what works best for their location. On the day of the wedding the owners were not present and we had several important questions and requests. We even searched for the owners and rang their doorbell with no answer. The owners also requested that the bridal suite be entirely cleaned up before walking down the aisle as it would be locked up with no access at 3pm even though we were there till 9pm. This created extra stress for the bride as we had to clean up after just doing our hair and make up and in our dresses, but we followed their rules and made sure to have the room cleaned in time. However, we were not even provided any trash cans and could not find the owners to ask where to put our trash from the bridal suite. Throughout the ceremony we did not see the owners. This was unusual as every other venue I’ve been to for a wedding the owners are present to answer questions and ensure things are operating smoothly- the bridal party should not have to be running around a farm trying to find a worker. The morning after the wedding, we arrived at the venue at 8am to grab some personal items that were left in the groomsmen suite (we were not told that this room had to be cleaned like the bridesmaid suite, nor was it locked up at any point during the night). To our dismay, we arrived to find our personal items in the dumpster covered under the nights food and alcohol. Part of the personal items that were covered in trash included the groomsmen suit bags (which had to be returned with the suits or charged a large fee) and the brides WEDDING VEIL! Most people (especially wedding venue owners) know how valuable and sentimental a wedding veil is and to see it covered in trash and ruined brought the bride to tears. This situation was not only stressful to the bride and groom, it also made their first morning as a married couple full of stress and tears which is something they can never get back. When the owners were addressed about the situation, instead of apologizing or showing any sympathy they replied back with “not my problem”. This venue lacks hospitality and respect. They added stress to the bride and wedding party and did not hold up to their standards. The bride and groom had enough stress planning a wedding during a pandemic and had to alter their plans and compromise on numerous aspects to work with this venue, and yet the owners did not provide the same understanding towards the bride and groom. It is easy to see that this venue is all about the money rather than the celebration of a wedding. I highly discourage anyone from choosing this location for any special event and am extremely disappointed that a wedding venue could allow such an experience to happen at a wedding.
