Cantor Xan Weiser is known for her joyful spirit, lyric soprano voice, and creative flair. Based in NYC, she was called to Cantorial leadership over a decade ago while also cultivating a vibrant career in theater—as an actress, dramaturg, and Broadway producer. She is now a proud member of the Cantor's Assembly.

As a spiritual leader, she sees Jewish practice as a powerful companion in building a life rich with meaning and depth. As an artist, she’s most inspired when something deeply personal becomes a shared, communal experience. Weddings, especially, marry her two worlds—no pun intended!

Couples who work with Cantor Weiser identify across a full spectrum of “spiritually and/or culturally Jewish but not religious,” to traditionally observant, and she delights in illuminating the layers of meaning and symbolism embedded in age-old Jewish traditions. While her ceremonies are grounded in a traditional framework, she embraces the many possibilities for personalization—even down to how the Hebrew prayers are translated and understood.

She typically meets with couples about four times in the lead-up to their wedding—not only to shape a ceremony that reflects their values and heritage, but also to provide counseling and help strengthen the foundation for everything that will follow.
